Bully boys.

Arrogant tyrants.

Blue-blood bastards.

Call them whatever you want.

Around here, we just call them Kings.

Fancy boats.

Lakeside mansions.

Luxe watches and bespoke suits.

The Kings of High Court College act like Gods.

And Cooper Valcourt is the worst of them.

He is the bully king.

His family owns everything.

And his mission is to put me in my place and send me packing.

But Cooper and I have a history filled with secrets.

And everyone knows that power doesn’t come from having money.

It comes from holding secrets.

And I’m holding one of his.

A very dark secret that can bring him to his knees.

Review

When it comes to a bully romance there is a fine line that is drawn into the sand. The book can either be very very good and done well or it can miss the mark completely. J.A Huss hits the mark with this series. Right from the first book I was hooked. I had to force myself to go to bed because I just wanted to keep listening.

Bully king was an interesting book. Right when I thought I had everything figured out J.A Huss would throw you a curve ball. A lot of these books can get very redundant and very repetitive. Huss bring new life into this genre. Cadee and Cooper are connected more that ever now. I will stop there because as in with most books I choose to listen this is one book that you really need to go into and just listen blindly. Doing it that way trust me you will not be disappointed.

Book 2 picks up right where book one left off. It is a wild ride. Just like book one you are left in the dark with all of the secrets. But it makes you that much more invested in the story and I think that’s what the author was going for. So finishing the second book took longer than I had been expecting. While the first half of the book was really good by the second half I found a lot of it repetitive and boring. This book is dark that is for sure. Not the darkest book that I have read but not the lightest either. I mean for me one of the biggest turn offs of this book and I don’t know if this is a spoiler but the secret society really seemed to really seemed to be anti-LGBTQ+. This did not sit well with me. The ending was ok. I felt like there were still a lot of questions unanswered. I enjoyed the first book but the second fell short for me.

Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder are perfect to voice these characters. Jacob Morgan is my one of my favorite male performers. He breaths life into any story that he narrates. There is no one voice actor that stands out over the other. They both shine.

Both of the performers had to put on a British accent as one of the supporting characters is from England. Jacob Morgan performs this accent flawlessly. Emma Wilder if I would’ve known she was American I would’ve believed that she was from England. The voice actors make it extremely easy to understand what they are saying no to characters sound alike. Both of the voice actors tunnel range is impeccable. They really know when to emphasize their words to put emotion behind them and they also know when to back off to create the right mood for what they’re reading. There is a great distinction between each of the characters so that way you know there genders as well as their ages.

His: A Bad Boy Mafia Romance: Citrione Crime Family Series, Book 1

His: A Bad Boy Mafia Romance: Citrione Crime Family Series, Book 1

I’m wrong for her in all the right ways.

Everyone in the city knows who I am: Vincent Citrione, top capo of the most powerful crime family in the city. If you’ve got two brain cells to rub together, you’re scared sh*tless of me.

As for women, I give them the hardest, dirtiest f*ck of their lives before showing them the door. They know better than to expect more.

Commitments? F*ck ‘em.

At least, that was my motto until I caught her snooping in the wrong place at the wrong time. Aubriella. I wanted her to be like all the rest of the girls. I wanted to forget her.

But I can’t forget her lush curves…or the soft moans spilling from her lips.

She thinks she can say no to me and get away with it. She thinks she can walk away after what she’s seen. But one taste and I know she’s going to be mine. I don’t care what it takes.

I get what I want. And I want her.

This is a standalone, full-length mafia romance with a filthy-mouthed, possessive bad boy. Happily ever after guaranteed.

Review

Penelope Bloom is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are always a good time. This books was no different. It’s 31 chapters but it felt like I was only listening for a about five minutes. The writing really grabs and pulls you into the story. This is one that you will finish in one sitting. I give this book 3 or 5 stars. Yes, it was a face paced story but I do feel like the author could have gone deeper with the story. There were many time during this book that I felt there could have been more explanation of how the family works or just more time flushing out the story. This is the first book in the series so I hope that we are able to explore more of this world and the other books go a little bit deeper.

C.J Bloom is our female narrator. Every time I listen to her I know for a fact that I will not be disappointed in the book that she is reading. Her range of voice is always pleasing to listen to. She has a big enough range that everyone has their own distinct voice and you know who she is voicing for. If she is voice acting it’s a no brainer for me. I will listen to anything she reads.

Alexander Cendese is our male narrator. He is a voice actor that I have listened to before. I enjoy his reading. His range of voices is quite good. My only thing is his female voices. The are ok and something I try not to judge to harshly. Overall I enjoyed my time listening to his chapters.
