Book Review – Fueled

Hello, wonderlandians. We are back in the world of Rylee and Colton. This is the second book in the Driven series. If you have not read my review on Driven I would recommend reading that first. You might get a little lost on what I am talking about in this review.

I do want to say that if I get a little ranty I am so sorry. This book had me feeling all of the things. We will get to all of that and more after we talk about the cover.

What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

We have the three different covers. I personally have to say that I like the last cover the best. It is the newest cover. The starting from left to right left you to have the original cover, the middle one is the audio book cover, and the last one is the newest rendition of the cover. I have to say for me it is the most eye-catching out of them all.

So I’ve actually given myself a couple of days before I went into this review. I thought I was going to get very ranty with this review. There are a lot of reasons why I thought I get this way. This book really makes you feel some type of way. Every emotion that you can ever feel you will feel with this book.

Before I go further into my review you guys know I like to give a disclaimer if I feel that there could potentially be something triggering to somebody. At the opening of the book, there is a flashback to Colton’s childhood that has to do with abuse. So take that as you well if you guys can’t handle childhood abuse which is very instrumental to this story. Then I really would suggest not going on with the story. There is, however, a reason why he goes through what he goes through. It shows throughout the book how one can overcome abused as a child. That’s all I’m gonna say about that because I don’t wanna ruin the book for those of you who decide to go on with the series.

So the last book ends on a cliffhanger. I was heartbroken by how the first book ended. Thankfully in the prologue, we get an understanding of why it ended the way that the book ended. So I love the author for that. Now I love this series. I don’t know if this Author is an evil genius or she just really likes to play with the emotions of her readers. I’m gonna go with she’s an evil genius. K. Bromberg writes characters that you 100% cannot forget. The way she writes Colton specifically to me he is so beautifully flawed if you well. His character has gone through a great challenge in his early years and I feel like he could be a very real person. Most books I don’t feel the characters are real. Like I love the characters and I would love to be friends with characters of other books but when I leave the story I don’t feel like it’s real life. Because honestly most books that I read they are paranormal or supernatural books. I definitely feel with this book that I am reading about my friends. I was so emotionally invested that I finish these books essentially in less than a week.

The author does write a book that you can read after you finish the series or you can read it before you read the last book. This is just scenes from Colton’s perspective. She ends up giving a little note before the scene in explaining why she did what she did. So I really enjoyed that fact. But I definitely wouldn’t read it before this book. It’s called Raced. That book has scenes from the first book and a from this book.

Now again I’m going to be talking about three of our main characters. And then I will be getting into more information about the movie that is coming up. It has been announced that they are making all three books in the series into movies. So I will be using pictures from the movie that’s coming out I believe next year. So we can kind of put some contexts to the characters with the people who will be playing them.

Rylee Thomas – I gave glowing reviews about Rylee in the last book. I don’t know what it is about her in this book in particular but she had me so freaking frustrated through the last half of this book. She is probably one of the most stubborn characters I have ever met in a book. Now don’t get me wrong I understand why she was the way she was in this book specifically. I am really trying not to give spoilers away but again this is the second book. Now I’m going to have to say for maybe 10 to 12 chapters towards the end she was so irritating. And I don’t mean irritating as in I didn’t like her. Again I am so invested in these characters that when they’re hurting I am hurting. I honestly feel like Rylee is like my girl and I wanted to shake her and just wake her up. I was crying for Rylee at the end of this book. There is something that happens to her that has me still thinking about it and has me shook I was crying for Rylee at the end of this book.

I was bawling my eyes out at one point. Because what happens to her is so heart wrenching and you’re like is the author just that mean to these characters or is it really plot driven. What happens to Rylee is 100% plot driven. I feel while there was a lot of growth for Rylee’s character in this book there were 10 chapters where I felt she took a lot of steps back but she did end up redeeming herself and in all reality that’s all matters for me is that she redeemed herself. And I love her to death.

Colton Donavan – Actually did you hear from his point of view in this book and I love it. The author she did the dual perspective very well. For me, it takes a very talented author to write a dual perspective that is amazing. Colton for me is up there with my favorite characters. He has a lot that happens to him in his early life which really carves out who he is as a person. Being the fact that he was abused in his early life you get a sense of why he is the way that he is today. You get these moments throughout the book with Colton and Rylee where they are so hot and cold with each other and most of that is due to Colton. He does have a coping mechanism that I have done in my life. As you guys know I have OCD and depression and one of the coping mechanisms that he specifically has is he will try and push everybody away one to prove that he can as well as to know who’s really going to stay with him. That is something I could very much connect with the character. A lot of the time from his perspective we get the insight of why his thought pattern is the way that it is. So I really enjoyed that the author did give us that perspective. Otherwise, I really would be yelling at Colton the entire time and not really like him as much as I really do.

He tries to fight so much against her felt for Rylee and one thing Rylee is is a fighter so she will fight for both of them. If you’re with Rylee you’re with her boys. Colton’s interactions with the boys are very important to the story because he gets very attached to them.

In a way, I feel that the boys really end up helping Colton grow as a character and I enjoy that fact so much. There is a lot of times when an author will just focus on the two main characters and yeah still have the side characters in an out by in romance it really is about the driving force of the two main characters. So the fact that she not only includes the best friend and the boys as such a part of the growth of the characters it really shows at least to me what the author is really capable of. Most of the time I don’t find that connection with the secondary characters as I do the main characters.

Zander – I love this boy so much. Zander’s character in this next book grows so much. When we first meet him he doesn’t talk in the first parking is very very shy and really the only one that gets him talking you can is Colton and bond that they have is amazing.  Now he and Rylee have a very special relationship. I honestly feel that he has the closest bond of mother and son at least this book. He has been with her the shortest amount of time but the relationship that you feel between the two of them is incredible. Colton and Zander have a relationship that I feel Rylee won’t understand. They both come from very similar backgrounds so you can tell Colton loves him immediately. Colton doesn’t do love.

Zander, as I’ve said, goes through a lot of progress in this book is interacting with people more it seems that he’s a lot less scared around people and he’s also talking to people. I’m in love with this little boy so much that I’m kind of sad that there is more of him in the book. That’s OK because the parts of him that we get to see interacting with his family. It’s amazing because it shows that just because you are related to somebody by blood that doesn’t necessarily make them your family. Rylee has taken these seven bully and it made a family with them. She gets to be a mom to these boys. Well, they don’t call her mom that’s exactly what she is to them. The bond that she has with Zander is very amazing. Zander relies on Rylee so much and when he’s up that she’s upset which ends up making you upset.

One thing that I do want to point out that kind of didn’t sit right with me is the fact that describe Rylee’s inner monologue through some of the harder parts of the book. She uses the term my Schizophrenic thoughts. I personally wouldn’t have used get the term schizophrenic to describe thoughts. I guess for me that’s really the only “negative” thing I could say about the book. I don’t know what do you guys think would you ever use a term like that describe somebody’s inner thoughts no matter how scattered they are. I personally would have gone with my racing thoughts.

Tatiana Sokolov is amazing as always. She never disappoints when reading a book. Every time I hear a book but she narrates I am at peace. That is the one thing that I love about audiobooks is the fact they can put me at peace.

Sean Crisden this is the first book that I have heard him narrate. His voice is so smooth when he reads. Sean and  Tatiana are amazing together when reading. They do a lot of books together and I have been finding that when you have a girl and a guy who read the other day typically tend to read a lot of books you have there. They complement each other so well. His voice I could fall asleep to him talking every single night. He has such a vulnerability about him when the scene calls for it in the book, Also I find that when he does a woman’s voice I do not cringe. That Is one of the biggest things I find with male narrators that when they do a female voice I cringe so hard. There was none of that he was absolutely incredible. And together they are just magic.

I said earlier in the post I was going to bring the movie news. The author of the series K. Bromberg did an interview in a private group on Facebook that now. She was talking about how she was very excited that her books are being made into movies. one piece of information that I really liked was the fact that she had said that the people in the movie  I’ve only read the first book because they didn’t want to be spoiled about their characters. This means that their reactions to what could be happening in the upcoming movies are going to be very authentic. Now when they go and film the other two movies I do have a feeling that they are going to be reading the book so that way they know what they’re character in the book was feeling at that moment. Although with the script I do believe that they would be able to tell what the character is feeling anyway. When they read the books will definitely get him or end up an idea of what characters are supposed to be like though.

There have been so many behind the scenes photos. I am so excited for this movie. Now you guys know I did a review of The Matchmaker’s Playbook after I read the book. I still need to get the movie review up I’m sorry I really do want to watch it one more time. I’m even more excited for this that I was bored The Matchmaker’s Playbook. That should tell you how fantastic these books are.

I hope you guys enjoyed this really long with you. I think this is the longest review I’ve ever done.

Thank you guys for joining us here in our little part of Wonderland. Please do not forget to feed the unicorns on your way out. They have been loving all the attention that you guys have been giving them lately.

Until next time

Book Review – Monster Prick

Hello, wonderlandians. I have a book review for you today. Well, a mini review. I hope you enjoy this mini review. Plus it is Friday! I hope you all are having a great Friday. What are you guys doing this weekend? Leave me a comment down below telling me what you guys are doing over the weekend. I have work on Saturday but I’m off on Sunday so I don’t know what I’m doing. But I’m sure I can think of something.

Let’s talk cover.

I really like this cover. It’s simple but at the same time giving me the vibes of The Billionaire’s Betrayal. There is like a blueish filter over it. I really like it is subtle but it stands out. The model on the cover…OMG, his body is hot, hot, and HOT (I feel like I am using him as a piece of man meat. #sorrynotsorry). I am really liking covers like I guess for right now.

Over my dead body.

That’s what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.

If anyone is touching her, it’s going to be me.

I shouldn’t even be considering it, but I can’t get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.

Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.

Those are the words I’d use to describe my older brother’s dangerously handsome best friend.

When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.

He says if anyone’s going to do, it’s going to be him.

I hate that I’m even considering his offer.

But I am … I sooo am.

Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he’s driving in to me.

But if we cross that line … will I ever be able to go back?

MONSTER PRICK is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

This was a really good short book. It was just what I needed. I did not know though that is was a novella is a series. I definitely felt that I was missing something towards the end of this book. Finds out that I was there is a whole other book that takes place before they sound really introduces the characters. I picked this look up because it was a 2 and 1/2 Hour audiobook. I really just wanted something quick and easy that I could get through in a day. I am definitely checking out the first book in this series. I’m not going to give any spoilers away this is going to be a really short review.

Things that attracted me to this book

  1. Kendall Ryan wrote it
  2. It was a short book
  3. I found it to be really cute
  4. The characters were fun
  5. There’s no drama

Things that frustrated me about this book

  1. Nothing it was perfect.

The narrator I am noticing reads most of Kendall Ryan’s book. I really like her. She is fun to listen to.

Thank you all for joining me in our little part of Wonderland. Please don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Free Friday

Hello, wonderlandians. What day is it? It Friday!

Image result for friday gif

I am so excited for this weekend. I plan on reading for all of it. I might make a read-a-thon out of this weekend. I know that I can probably get two books out of the way to night. I have about one hour left in one of my audiobooks and then two and half hours hours left in the other. So I will be happy when I can add that to my list for the month. How is your reading going this month? How many books of you read so far? Are you ready to add one more book to you ever growing TBR? Well here you go.

Portraits have been removed from the walls, and areas of the house are off limits. Some rooms even seem to have been walled off completely. No one will talk to her.

It’s been a difficult year for Abilene Collins. Since her father’s death, her whirlwind life of adventure and travel has come to an end.

Now, she’s living with her mysterious uncle. He’s a man with secrets, living almost alone in a ridiculously large mansion that he doesn’t own. He doesn’t like questions, and when Lena starts asking about his job, it isn’t hard to tell that he’s keeping some family secrets from her.

The young and ambitious groundskeeper has become her only friend, and one day he tells her that she was stolen from her mother years before. Lena’s family are all telepathic, and that isn’t all…they’re a religious pillar of the Silenti society. Her grandfather has used his standing to gain political power, decimating his rivals along with anyone who gets in his way.

Suddenly thrust into a life of political plots and religious fanatics, Lena finds herself struggling to navigate her own life. Some people aren’t fond of the Darays, and the family has nearly died out through assassination.

It appears Lena is the latest target.

Amazon – Arrival of the Traveler

I completely FORGOT that I owned this book. I “bought” it two years ago. I have so many free book that I forget which books I have. Well, this one is going right back to the top of my TBR list. It sounds so good. I really need to stop buying books and just go through all of the free ones that I own. Plus, look at that cover. The cover artist has done such an amazing job of making this cover look magical.

What do you all think? Will you be adding this to your TBR? Let me know.

Thank you all for joining me here in our little part of wonderland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Cover Reveal – The Billionaire’s Betrayal

Hello, wonderlandians! How is your Wednesday going? Today, I have a cover reveal for you. Thank you Xpresso Tours for letting me be apart of this.

This book looks so interesting. I am really enjoying the cover is this book. It think the fact that it has a blue tone overlay to it but still looks faded at least to me is not something I have seen in a long while. It is different and it really makes it stand out.

The Billionaire’s Betrayal
Mika Lane
(Billionaire, #2)
Publication date: January 16th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

I own the hottest boutique hotel in Manhattan. Only the rich and famous stay here. They’re the only ones who can afford it. And they’re the only ones we allow.

I’m busy, I’m successful, I’m rich, and I can seduce any woman I want. So when I agreed to another god-awful “bachelor auction” fundraiser for some freaking charity, I prepared myself for a date with some crazy chick who blathered on about her cat, and how many children she’d like to have one day.

Thanks, but no thanks.

So when my “date,” the winner of the latest auction of my bad boy self, emailed me to set up a rendezvous, I planned on having one drink and bailing. My assistant knew exactly when to call me so I could fake an emergency.

Only this date was different. Sure, she was beautiful—Manhattan is full of stunning women, mostly looking for rich husbands. But this one was the brilliant CEO of a tech firm. And she could have given two craps about me. Before I knew it, her half-empty martini sat on the bar wearing the slightest smudge of her red lipstick.

Was she beating me at my own game? I couldn’t let that happen. I wouldn’t.

A devotee of the intelligent and beautiful, and lover of shiny things, she’s a yogi, hiker, traveler, thinker, observer, and book worm. She has been known to drink cheap champagne and has way too many shoes.

A National Reader’s Choice Awards finalist, Mika always deliver a hot, sexy romp, often with imperfect characters, and a promised happily ever after (or at least happy for now).

Book Review – Severed Wings

Hello, my wonderlandians! Welcome to the weekend. What are you guys doing on the second to last day of the year? Let me know.

Quick Disclaimer – This following book I am about to review was at the beginning of the year sent to me in exchange for an honest review that I was to put up on amazon earlier this year and I did that. I was in no way obligated to put up this review. I have just recently reread the book and I have further thoughts on the book. Plus there was a cover change. This is an honest review…plus I will also be giving some back round about my life. This could be a long review.

So to kick things off with this review I really want to start off with the covers.

Cover One

In all honesty, I like this cover. This is the original cover. It’s pretty. There is a pretty girl in a blue dress, but this is a cover we have seen a 100 times over. There is no connection to the contents of the book in this cover. I could not tell you what this book was about based on this cover alone. It is pretty and the person who did design the cover did a really good job.

Cover Two

Now when I look at the second cover I am in awe of it. You can really get a sense of the story at least in my opinion from just a cover image. There are white feathers floating around the girl who’s kind of off center in the cover or at least that’s what it looks like from the position that she’s in. Now the 2 colors that are going on in this image with the rich blacks and varying different degrees of purples and if I’m not mistaken right in the center of the photo there is a blue popping out from behind her kind of highlighting the midsection of her. There is a lot more Dimension and movement in this cover and I feel like you’re I automatically gets drawn to a girl and then you can move around with the cover. Hopefully, I’m making sense. This cover is absolutely breathtaking and when I’m comparing the first cover to the second cover I would definitely reach for the second cover if I had no idea who Kelly Carerro was. Everything in this cover is perfection. Also, it looks like they did a font change in the covers as well and I must say I definitely prefer the second font to the first font. Overall, I really just prefer the second cover.

“Normal” is something I could only dream of being called. “Mental” or “screwed up” is what I’m labeled. But actually feeling other people’s pain does that to a girl. I’m not an empath. I’m crazy! That is until I meet one guy who makes it all go away.

The problem is, he’s even crazier than me. At least I thought that in the beginning before the coincidences became undeniable. But, if what he was saying were true, he would not only become my savior, he would also open my eyes to a world filled with angels, demons, witches, and an ancient curse that I’m caught smack bang in the middle of.

Either way, I already knew he’d be the death of me.

This book to me felt really different than anything Kelly is ever written before. She’s got two other series out and the only other series I’ve read from her is her Evolution series. I devoured those books in 3 days when it was a trilogy. She then added on I want to say 3 more books and I still need to get to those. I have a very deep connection to the first half of this book. I think this is why it is in my top 10 favourite series. the first half of this book takes place at a rehab center that is a working Ranch. now the reason that I feel so connected to this setting and to our main character Lucy is because when I was about 19 years old I was going through a very hard time in my life. I have obsessive-compulsive disorder and at that time it was really bad. So I discussed with my mother going into a long-term Treatment Center. the treatment center that I had looked at was on a working Ranch. so the setting that this Ranch took place in really reminded me of my time there. Unfortunately, the ranch was really expensive and I wasn’t able to go. this book gave me that experience and away.

I really want to talk about our main character Lucy. she grew up knowing that there was something a little off about her. She never really felt like she belonged in her family. her birth name that her mother gave her was Zoe and if I’m remembering correctly she wanted at a very young age to be called Lucy. She never really understood why this name was hers. it just was. in the synopsis, Kelly uses terms Not normal, mental, and screwed up. In Lucy’s mind, that’s what she was. She genuinely felt like she was crazy because there is an element of otherworldliness to this book. Our main character can feel other people’s emotions,  because of this it drives her to try to commit suicide on multiple different occasions. I want to process this right now that if suicide or any kind of mental illness is a trigger for you this is probably not the book for you. it does though in the second half of the book get away from the mental illness and the rehab center that Lucy is at for the first half of the book.

While Lucy is at the rehab center she meets some people who she feels normal around. when the emotions start getting too much for her the owner of the ranch John lets her ride a horse to kind of get away from all of the emotions and give her a break. then we meet our love interest Marcus.  there is just something about him that Lucy can’t shake. now we really don’t find too much about Marcus in this book he’s kind of withdrawn we find out a little bit but not much.

Another thing that I really liked about this was the fact that to really get a sense of this book you need to read it. There is no information given we find out all the information with Lucy. If she’s clueless were Clueless. I honestly could not have predicted how this book ended. so every twist and turn in this book is a surprise and a shock.

The one thing Kelly is really good at is creating characters that you feel a real deep connection to. and I feel with about maybe 90% of the characters I want to get to know them I feel this connection with them and it drives me to want to read more of the book to discover who they are. I want to know how they will develop and honestly I want to find out what the Mystery is.

I know this review is a little bit different in format to my other reviews I will be getting back to my old format but  I have a feeling for this book series it’s going to have to be this way.

What did you guys think of this review? Let me know.

Thank you all for joining me. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Until next time

Much love

Now for this topic today I thought it would be fun. Now I have not asked for any books this year. I usually ask for gift cards. This way I know what books I am getting. Also, I save these for books that I know are coming for the next year.

Once again I got this idea from The Broke and The Bookish. Thank you.

Funny enough I have read this book about 4 times over the last four years. While I have listened to. I love the audiobook. One of the narrators is Grace Grant. She is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Sadly, for whatever reason, I do not own this audiobook.

My reaction when reading this book.

I have Pride and Prejudice and it is so beautiful! I have been wanting to read more classic books. They are just intimating I thought this would be a great way to read them. It is the actual story but there are manga installations. So this is one I am hoping to get in the near future.

Thank you all for joining me here in out little part of wonderland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way. They grant wishes.

Until next time

Much love

Al may have a bruised ego but he’s on a mission to win Beatrice’s love once and for all. Hello, wonderlandians! How is your week going? We have another cover reveal today. Thanks, Xpresso Tours for letting me be apart of this.

Cross Stroke
Elizabeth Hartey
Publication date: January 16th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

One night left my heart shattered and my reputation ruined, and now my only hope is to transfer to another university far from home. Although I’m a champion figure skater and am used to succeeding, I can’t dump the burden of distrust and intimacy I’m carrying.

But when I literally crash into the cocky captain of the hockey team, sparks fly, and the attraction is as undeniable as it is unwanted.

No way is this arrogant hottie the one to help me move past my fears. Or is he…?

Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, I can’t forget the tragic accident that killed my first love. To avoid ever feeling that kind of agonizing loss again, I vow to stick with one-night stands with every puck bunny who glides my way and focus on keeping my position on the hockey team.

But after I meet a feisty figure skater and am then thrown together with her as a lab partner, I find I want to melt the icy walls we’ve built around our hearts.

If we don’t strangle each other first.

Author Bio:

As a lover of the northeast US, my husband and I moved to the Poconos several years ago to open a Chiropractic Clinic. Four children and a menagerie of animals later, I have finally found time to fulfill my lifelong dream of writing novels. A dreamer at heart, romance is—of course—the genre I spend most of my time writing and reading into the wee hours of the morning. However, if it’s a good book, any genre can keep me immersed in the story for hours.

When I’m not juggling work responsibilities and writing, I enjoy baking, knitting, traveling, hiking the beautiful hills and woods around my home and spending time with my family.
