Audiobook Review – Heart Throb

He was just another dad at my daughter’s school. Another very hot, “former teen heartthrob” dad. One I couldn’t get involved with.

Lennox Reign was the hottest teen star, over 15 years ago. Now, he’s staring me daggers across the principal’s office.

Not my fault my daughter got in trouble the first day of school and I seem to have “bad mom” stamped on my forehead.

But now, not only do I have to see Lennox and his very grown-up body at school drop off, but we’re working together on the school bake sale.

If he could just stop being a brooding heart-breaker for like two seconds…

He says he wants to keep the past in the past and move forward with his life, but the closer we get and the more I uncover, the more I can’t help falling for the former actor.

The one who I know could easily break me.

And he will.

Review

Don’t look at the disclaimer out of the way. I did receive a code for free in exchange for an honest review. This in no way hinders my personal opinions on this book as you guys know I am always straightforward and honest about how I feel about that. Now that that’s over with let’s get on into the review.

This is a new to me author. Magan Vernon was such a delight to read her book. Although the book is very short it’s 4 1/2 hours long. There is a a lot of content smashed into a very short time period. It typically I’m not a fan of super short audiobooks because I feel like an author is trying to put a full story into a short amount of time. I don’t feel like the author typically takes their time and the story is rushed.

I do believe that the author did a good job of telling the story in such a way that we got all of the information that was relevant. Do I feel like the story could have been expanded to make it longer absolutely. I thought that this was just going to be wrapped up in a nice little bow and everything would be done by the end of the book that is not the case if you’re not a fan of cliffhangers you will not be a fan of this book. But the second book is out so you can just automatically go and get the e-book or physical copy and read it for yourself. Let me tell you that is what I’m going to go do because this cliff hanger. It’s got me hungry I need to finish this duet. Am I sad that the audiobook for the second book is an out? That question is yes because as you guys know I do prefer audiobooks over all other forms. But we will be getting the e-book.

Magan‘s writing style is great. There’s a great ad in flow to her writing you can just sit down and get lost in this world. That’s what happened for me. When a book has the ability to take me away from my troubles are the stress from my day I know the author is doing their job. When the author is writing the dialogue because for me a story yes the setting and the descriptions are super nice but I’m very much dialogue focused. The author writes it in such a way that you feel like you’re part of that conversation. For me that’s what I look for I don’t want anything that feels forced or sounds weird to my ears. Does the Avenue and flow of natural conversation is what I like. And Magan gives me that in every single chapter. When it comes to the main character I absolutely love her she’s a single mom and I don’t read too many books about single moms and single dad’s. But I absolutely loved it so 10 out of 10 recommend this book to you.

Now when I first for the narrators name Hannah Baker. All I can hear in my head is welcome to your tape.

Anyway Miss Hannah baker is a new narrator to me as well. So we are getting a lot of firsts in this post. Hannah did such an amazing job and you guys know I’m very picky about my narrators. She had a really good range when it came to the voices. There weren’t too many because it was such a condensed time but for the characters that we did have it there was individual voices for each of them. Extra points for her pulling off little kids voices. She enunciate really well there were no other accents except a southern one and I thought she pulled it off really well it sounded truly authentic.

Since I’m not a sound engineer everything sounded good. I have no complaints they were new awkward pauses there was no background noise so all in all I think the engineers did a great.

Will you guys be checking out this book if you do leave me a comment to let me know? If you read this book what are you guys think about it leave me a comment?

Until next time

Audiobook Review – Fear Me

Fear Me audiobook cover art

This isn’t another “I hate you because I secretly love you” story. Boy really does hate girl. And this isn’t just a forbidden love story. This is obsession at its darkest.

I don’t believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming.

I believe in fear.

He taught me how to be afraid.

We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn’t be the last. For 10 years, he’s been my tormentor and I’ve been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.

Now, he’s back, and wants more than just my tears. You see…he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge…and he knows just how to get it.

This book is a complicated one for me. There are many aspects of this book that does not sit well with me. It’s a dark romance. Typically when it comes to dark romances I do read the reviews 1st because I want a better understanding of why this book has really high ratings or why a book has low ratings. This audio book had some very high rating. It seems like the general consensus seems to really enjoy the book.

I want to give you a little look and to the process of my brain while taking notes for this audiobook review.

  • LAKE TRYING TO SAVE THE PEOPLE SHE LOVES

  • LAKE HAS BEEN THREATEN FOR 10 YEARS

  • LAKE TELLS KNOW ONE

  • LAKE TRIES TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST KIERAN

  • THIS IS A BAD IDEA

  • SHE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED ALONG UNTIL SHE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET AWAY

  • KIERAN BULLY, PSYCHO, POSSESSIVE, CRUEL, MANIPULATIVE

  • LAKE AND KIERAN ARE IN HIGHSCHOOL

  • THE MC SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 10 YEARS OLDER

  • THOUGH THAT WOULD NOT REALLY MAKE THE STORY BETTER

  • THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE

  • LAKE HAS STOCKHOLM SYNDROME

  • KIERAN FLIP FLOPS THERE ARE MOMENTS WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE HE CARES ABOUT BUT THEN IN ANOTHER BREATH THREATENS TO KILL HER OR THE ONES THAT SHE LOVES

  • LAKE KEPT DOING THINGS TO PISS OFF KIERAN

  • WHEN LAKE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAR HER NAME SHE SAID NOTHING UNTIL FORCED TO

  • NOW THAT WE ARE IN THE LAST FOUR HOURS OF THIS BOOK IT SEEMS LIKE A DIFFERENT STORY

  • DOES THIS MEAN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

  • THEY ARE SIMI ACTING LIKE A NORMAL TEENAGE COUPLE

  • THEN THEY DON’T ACT LIKE A NORMAL COUPLE

  • SHE KIND OF STARTS GETTING THE ANSWERS SHE WANTS

  • SHE REALLY DOES ASK ALL THE WRONG QUESTION

  • THEN SHIT HAPPENS AND THEY ACT LIKE A “NORMAL” COUPLE

  • MORE SHIT HAPPENS AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL

So as you can see above that is my whole thought process while I was listening to this book. I have to put a big ass trigger warning because there is a lot of triggering things in this book. I may not get all of them but I will try my best so here we go manipulation, obsession, possession, rape, death threats, psychological warfare. I don’t know there was a lot to this book and I found it weirdly intriguing. This is a dark romance novel. The events that happen in this book are very unrealistic. I’m not even gonna go into the plot of this book again I had to take a very clinical approach to listening to this book. The author weaves a tale two high school kids. One wanted to see the other ones suffer. The main male character has a very messed up past. Which does lead to his actions of a threatening lake all the time. Now I’m not saying that what he’s gone through as an excuse for him to treat lake the way that he does. I’m just stating I can understand why he is the way that he is. Also there is child pornography in this book so if that triggers you please do not read this book.

Once again started reading comments on this book because when I first started listening to it it wasn’t at all what I thought it was. This is the type of book that needs trigger warnings. There is none so I am definitely going to have to deduct points from this because there is no trigger warning and there needs to be. So overall I’m gonna give the book about a two stars because of the content of the book it kind of was confusing but it intrigued me enough to where I did listen to the second book and I will listen to the third box because I have invested 22 hours into this book series that I might as well just goOnto reading the other three books. I really want to see where all of this ends.

Basically the gist of the story is lake moved to six Forks when she was eight years old she was on the playground trying to help this boy but the mail main character Kiernan decided that he hated this girl because of something that happened in his past. We basically torments her for 10 years and then he basically it’s on the way Juvenile detention on a drug charge he gets out he thinks lake is the one who set him up but the reality of the situation is lake did not set him up and so he is on a mission to take her virginity and basically break her.

He doesn’t really end up breaking her in all reality he ends up falling for her more so than he wants to. He wants to be this person who doesn’t give a shit about other people but sadly that’s not the case.

I have finished the second book for my review on that will be up in a couple of days. I want to say the redeeming quality of this whole novel was Eva Erickson. She is a fantastic narrator I love everything that she’s ever read. So I will continue to listen because I have a goal to listen to everything that she is narrated it so yeah

Thank you all for joining me here in our little part of wonderland. Please do not forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Top Three Thursday – Books I Hope Santa Brings

Hello, Wonderlandians. It’s Thursday. One more day till the weekend. What are your plans for this holiday weekend?

Now for this topic today I thought it would be fun. Now I have not asked for any books this year. I usually ask for gift cards. This way I know what books I am getting. Also, I save these for books that I know are coming for the next year.

Once again I got this idea from The Broke and The Bookish. Thank you.

3. Ugly Love

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

Funny enough I have read this book about 4 times over the last four years. While I have listened to. I love the audiobook. One of the narrators is Grace Grant. She is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Sadly, for whatever reason, I do not own this audiobook.

My reaction when reading this book.

What I’m Reading Wednesday

Hello, my wonderlandians. I hope you are having a great Wednesday. I am off today so I did not wake up until 1 pm. I have been very tired lately. So the sleep in was nice. In a couple of hours, I’m getting ready to go to my mom’s house to go pick up my box of ornaments so my boyfriend and I can put up our Christmas tree. I know it’s the 20th of December and still no Christmas tree…

giphy (3)

Today though we are here for another What I’m Reading Wednesday.

I am currently listening to a book called The Ninth Key. It is the second book in the Mediator series by Meg Cabot.

199786

Synopsis

Ghosts ruin everything. Especially your love life.

Everything is going great for Suze. Her new life in California is a whirlwind of parties and excellent hair days. Tad Beaumont, the hottest boy in town, has even asked Suze out on her very first date. Suze is so excited that she’s willing to ignore her misgivings about Tad… particularly the fact that he’s not Jesse, whose ghostly status – not to mention apparent disinterest in her – make him unattainable.

What Suze can’t ignore, however, is the ghost of a murdered woman whose death seems directly connected to dark secrets hidden in none other than Tad Beaumont’s past.

tumblr_ncmos866541qd6k8fo1_400

(After reading these books. I want to go watch the show Ghost Whisperer.)

This book is actually going to be a reread for me I read it back when I was in high school and I recently just finished the 8th book in the series so what I wanted to do was go back and reread the entirety of the series. Unfortunately, I do not have books 1 and 2 I do have 3 through 7. So I thought I would get the audiobooks this time around and listen to them.

I thought this would be a nice way to kind of end the year. I love this book series I love the world but it takes me in to. Overall, I love the main characters, Susanna Simon. I honestly feel like when I was back in high school she felt like that friend that didn’t really give a crap. It was nice because my overall High School experience wasn’t the best. So I was able to escape into this world where I felt like I had a friend that took up for you and really didn’t take crap from anybody. And then, of course, you know you have the hot love interest. There were also times when I would put myself in Suze’s Shoes just because I wanted to cry and go see you like I was somebody else for a while. This is on a day where I was having a particularly bad day with my mental health and I just needed to escape. So this is my reading Wednesday.

As always thank you guys so much for coming here and joining me and our little part of Wonderland. On your way out do not forget to feed the unicorns. We are 5 days away from Christmas so they are definitely in the mood for granting all over the wishes.

Until next time

Book Review – Roomies

Hello, my wonderlandians! Thank you for joining me on this amazing weekend. I hope yours is going awesome. Hopefully, you didn’t follow many white rabbits down to many holes.

 giphy-downsized-large

I know I have gone down the YouTube one too many nights this week. I should have been sleeping but you know how addicting YouTube can get late at night. Your eyes are calling and demanding for sleeping, but your eyes are like no way we are staying up all night. Only to then later pass out not knowing then the time you actually went to sleep. The story of my life. Anyway, I hope you guys are having a great weekend so far.

(Side note I am trying something new with this blog post. Tell me if you like. Trying a new format if you will. Leave me a comment.)

Today, I am going to review a book called Roomies by Sara ZarrTara Altebrando. I got this book on a whim when I was scrolling throw overdrive. It really liked the cover and the plot of it sounded really interesting. I can say I am so glad that picked it up. Now I listened to the audio-book version of this book. Everything about it was fantastic.

Let’s start off with the cover.

17573559

This in and of itself is a work of art! I love it. The vibrant color of the green in the Roomies text. Then your eye is drawn to the two different colors of the shared room. Now I do have one thing to nitpick…sorry…I really wish that pick of the other girl’s room meshed with the green in the rooms text. I think that would have made for an even striking cover. This could only be my opinion. Either which way this is a cover that I really enjoy.

Synopsis

The countdown to college has begun.

When Elizabeth receives her freshman-year roommate assignment at the beginning of summer, she shoots off an email to coordinate the basics: TV, microwave, mini-fridge. She can’t wait to escape her New Jersey beach town, and her mom, and start life over in California.

That first message comes as a surprise to Lauren in San Francisco; she had requested a single. But if Lauren’s learned anything from being the oldest of six, it’s that you can’t always get what you want, especially when what you want is privacy.

Soon the girls are e-mailing back and forth, sharing secrets even though they’ve never met. With childhood friendships and family relationships strained by change, it suddenly seems that the only people Elizabeth and Lauren can rely on are the complicated new boys in their lives…and each other.

With humor and heart, Sara Zarr, National Book Award finalist for Story of a Girl, and Tara Altebrando, acclaimed author of The Pursuit of Happiness, join forces for a novel about that time after high school when everything feels like it’s ending just as it’s beginning.

Reasons I found this book so appealing.

  1. I never went to a traditional college.
  2. This gave me an insight as to what it would have been like if I would have gone out of state to college instead of doing it online.
  3. I really liked the fact that the authors were able to pull a duel P.O.V so well. The story just flowed.
  4. The narrators. They both did a fantastic job!
  5. I connected really well with one or more of the main characters. Our personalities are really different but I found it really easy to connect.
  6. Not heavily romance driven

Reasons I found this book so frustrating

  1. THERE IS NO SQUEAL! I REPEAT THERE IS NO SQUEAL. I have so many questions about how this book ended. I feel like this could have been an awesome college series. Unfortunately, there was only one book.
  2. It is so sad that there is only one book.
  3. Did I mention that there is only one book? Well, there is.

Let’s talk about EB or Elizabeth.

Now with this character, I really did connect with her on the basis that her family is a little messed up. My family, I have a mom and my step-dad who I love dearly. He is my dad even though biologically we’re not related. I feel like Elizabeth has a lot of issues surrounding her family and a lot to do with her father.I connected to this on a very deep level. I have some issues with my own biological father, that I still feel to this day haven’t really been hashed out.

I found this character to be very likable for most of the story and then towards the end of the book I thought she was being really childish after the big incident happens throughout the book. I kind of find myself relating that because I can act childish if I’m fighting with somebody so I found a connection there as well.

Another level of diversity is the fact her dad left her mom because he was gay. He never really looked back when he left. This messed the mom up and EB.

giphy.gif

Overall, her personality and mine while there are some similarities I find that she is a lot more outgoing than I am. She is extroverted where I am introverted. I really like the fact that the authors created a character that while my personality is different from hers I was able to make a connection. I feel like there are a lot of books out there like you want to connect with the characters but you don’t a lot of the times I find myself connecting with 1 character. At the same time, a lot of books are told from 1 perspective and not told from a dual perspective. So they got this right on the money.

Now the person who voiced Elizabeth character I thought she did an amazing job I thought the paste that she brought out was amazing. And I thought overall that her voice really complimented the other narrator. There are a lot of times where I find you have one really good narrator and one that’s kind of so-so and it’s the other narrator job to carry the other one. I did not find this at all I really looked forward to each person’s part of the book.

Let’s talk about Lauren next

Her character I found myself a really relating to. She grew up in a house of 8 people. All of her siblings are a lot younger than her. This mimics my life perfectly period instead of 8 people I have a family of 6. Which consists of my mom, my dad, me, my two sisters, and my brother. my two youngest siblings are at best 13 years younger than me. So while Lauren feels like she’s not really a sibling to her brothers and sister she’s more of a third parent because it is such that huge age gap. This is something that I was really able to relate to because growing up being so much older than my two youngest siblings I always did feel like a third parent to them compared to an older sister. Now, this is completely different than how it is with me and my older younger sister. She is about 4 years younger than me or 5 depending on what time of the year we’re in. So I and she grew up together. She is also really close to her family as I am to mine.

cb7b32d8-5a55-471d-b645-fcfe7326fe9e

Yeah, Lauren is the studious goody-two-shoes kind of a person. She’s also really outdated with her technology. Now while in school I wasn’t exactly the most studious of student I was known around the school as the school study to shows. One of the things that I really liked was the fact that Lauren really wasn’t concerned with losing her virginity. She was so grounded in who she was. But that is definitely something that I connected to. Because for me one thing that I’ve always really liked about myself was that I have a very strict moral compass and I don’t let that break. So for me, that was a really cool experience because I found a really deep connection to this character. Even more so than I did with Elizabeth.  I also really like the fact the authors put Lauren to an interracial relationship for Lauren. It added a bit of diversity to the book.

Now the narrator who read for Lauren also has narrated a couple of other books that I’ve listened to so I knew for a fact that I really like her voice. As I said up above I really liked her voice narrating with the other woman.

I really enjoyed this book and I it will definitely be on my re-read list.

Free Friday – House of Royals Plus a Review

Hello, my wonderlandians! So for today’s free Friday I remembered a blog posted that I wrote back in April. It was a book that I really enjoyed. I did stop reading it after the second book because I really don’t. I do know that i really want to get back into the story. I hope you enjoy this review and recommendation.

House of Royals was an interesting read for me. It has been a long time since I have fallen in love with a vampire novel as easily as I did with this one.

Keary Taylor wrote this lovely story. This is the first book in a seven-book series so far. It is about a girl named Alivia. She is a 22-year-old girl who just moved to the south after her father someone she has never met died and left her everything he had in his will. I will not go into more detail than that because I feel that every bit of the story is a giveaway.

Now, I listened to the audio book so I will get into details about how I thought the narrator did.

First, let us talk about the actual writing in the book. I really enjoyed the writing flow of how Keary wrote. It wasn’t too fast or too slow. The main character Alivia I really enjoyed her. I found that I was really invested in the well being of this character. Although, I will say this about Alivia, I felt that was really wasn’t reading a story of a 22 year old woman, but more of someone who was in their late teen years. Not saying that the character was not relatable. She was. I just felt that I was reading about a teenager. Closer to the end of the novel did I feel that I was reading about a 22 year old young woman.

Now on the narrator. When it comes to audio books I am really critical on the person who reads the novel. They can make or break an audio book. I have listened to a lot of audio books in my time.

I LOVED the woman who narrators this novel. Her name is Renee Dorian. The way she read this novel had me hooked from the very first paragraph that she read. Renee had a lot different voices when she was voicing for all of the different characters. This gives the narrator big brownie points from me. When any narrator can do this I know that I am going to enjoy the book. I am looking forward to hearing her narrate the rest of this series.

Oh wait I forgot to tell you that this book is free on the Kindle.

Amazon Book 1 – http://bit.ly/houseofroyalsbook1

Audiobook Book 1 – http://bit.ly/houseofroyalsaudiobook

I will have to give this book a 4.5 out of 5.

Top Three Thursday – Favorite Books of 2017

Hello my wonderlandians. This post is a little bit late today. I know. This is the section of the blog I think I am going to have the hardest time with. I can never pick what I want to do for the this day. This topic however seemed fitting. Now, there is a blog call The Broke and The Bookish who has a list of over 300 topics. So I think I will be picking from there frequently. Thank you The Broke and The Bookish. You have saved me today!oypGTjA

I thought it would be hard to pick my top three favorite books of this year but it really wasn’t. So without further ado my top three favorite book of 2017!

NUMBER 3 – GEEKERELLA

41-zExkdW1L._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_

I loved this book! It was was the perfect kind of retelling with a modern twist.

Synopsis

Cinderella goes to the con in this fandom-fueled twist on the classic fairy tale.

Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

Thoughts

I want another book. Seriously, it was good. Although I feel like they could make another book. Please? I am being.  Don’t make me sick my vampire on you. I am the mistress of the underworld.

Number 2 – Geek Girl 2

images

Synopsis

“My name is Harriet Manners, and I am still a geek.”

Harriet knows that modelling won’t transform you. She knows that being as uniquely odd as a polar bear isn’t necessarily a bad thing (even in a rainforest). And that the average person eats a ton of food a year, though her pregnant stepmother is doing her best to beat this.

What Harriet doesn’t know is where she’s going to fit in once the new baby arrives.

With summer plans ruined, modelling in Japan seems the perfect chance to get as far away from home as possible. But nothing can prepare Harriet for the craziness of Tokyo, her competitive model flatmates and her errant grandmother’s ‘chaperoning’. Or seeing gorgeous Nick everywhere she goes.

Because, this time, Harriet knows what a broken heart feels like.

Can geek girl find her place on the other side of the world or is Harriet lost for good?

THOUGHTS

I can’t wait to read the next one.

Book 1 – Emerge and Submerge

Ok so I know that this two book but you can’t one without the other.

Synopsis – Emerge

Lia Nautilus may be a Mermaid but she’s never lived in the ocean. Ever since the infamous Little Mermaid unleashed a curse that stripped Mer of their immortality, war has ravaged the Seven Seas. Now Lia lives in a secret community of land-dwelling Mer hidden among Malibu’s seaside mansions and attends high school with humans. To protect everyone around her, she must limit her contact with non-Mer. No exceptions. But when the new girl sets her sights on Lia’s crush, she will risk exposing her deadly secret to stop Clay from falling in love with the wrong girl.

Thoughts

book-love.gif

Synopsis – Submerge

Now that Lia and Clay’s love has broken the Little Mermaid’s curse, everything has changed. Will Lia’s family remain on land, leading the only life she and her sisters have ever known, or will they move below the waves, to the sparkling new capital city? Lia is adamant about staying on land with Clay for her senior year. But at Melusine and her father’s trial, new revelations threaten what Lia holds most dear.

The verdict will shake Lia’s whole world, calling into question her future with Clay, her feelings for Caspian, and the fate of all Merkind. As she wonders who to trust, Lia sets out on a treacherous path that will lead her away from her sheltered Malibu home to a remote and mysterious school for Mermaids—Mermaids who may hold the secret to ancient magic Lia can use to either get back all she’s lost or to embark on a thrilling and dangerous journey.

After trusting the wrong guy in a case gone totally wrong, Marisol convinces the Conclave, an underground organization of detectives solving supernatural cases, to give her a last chance to prove her worth, and maybe even heal her broken heart

After all, as a half-blood jaguar shifter, Marisol is uniquely qualified to solve this murder—and every scrap of evidence points toward the culprit being a fellow jaguar shifter. But is one of her own people involved, or is this all a ploy to kick Marisol’s mother off the shifter throne?

Then Marisol discovers her best friend, Roan, is missing, and maybe the killer’s next target. The stakes just got higher than political intrigue. Just when things couldn’t get worse, Marisol’s ex-boyfriend-turned-nemesis, Mannix, starts leaving sinister clues for her. Marisol fears this case might be far more personal than she could’ve imagined.

It’s time for Marisol to prove her worth, or her people could fall into chaos while her best friend loses his life.

Top Three Thursday

Hello, my wonderlandians!  Welcome back to our corner of wonderland. How is your week going? We are almost to the weekend. Well most of us. I do have to work this weekend. I have been wanting to do this kind of post for a while. I am doing top three favorite YA female characters. Now, I have a lot of female characters that I really love and it was hard narrowing it down to just three of them.

Here we go.

3.

Tamsin Greene – She is from the Once a Witch, Always a Witch series by Carolyn MacCullough . It is two books. I love the the titles. Tamsin lives in one of the most powerful magical families. Everyone is born with a certain gift. All her life Tamsin is under the impression that she is the odd one out and does not have a gift. The first ever.

Why? She is one of my favorites is because despite the fact she does not have any powers she will do whatever it takes to save her family.  She is a fighter and I don’t want to go to much into this story. I feel like this one story that you have to go blind to. Actually, all of the books I will mention that is how you should go into the books. Unaware.

Sadly, I could not find any social media for this author.

2.

The Emerge Series by Tobie Easton. Now, what you will learn is that I don’t tend to read a lot of story re-tellings. I am so happy that I picked this one up! This is a Little Mermaid retelling. Again this is something you should go into with really no idea what it is about. You do get an idea of the very basic premise of the book because it is a retelling.

Tobie Easton though adds so many layer through both of the books. All I can say it go pick it up. My favorite read of 2017! I could sing the praise for this book all day. When there series is finished I will do a full review!

1.

My first one is Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy written by Richelle Mead. Now I love Rose. She is the type to not take crap from anyone! She is a bad ass. Her number one focus is protecting her best friend. That is really what the book is built upon girl power and friendship not romance. Which I like. I found Vampire Academy and Rose when I was in a very low place in my life. This book I went into it without really any information about what it was about.

This book I have so much to say but I won’t because spoilers everything is a spoiler. Rose = BADASS!
