Audiobook Review – Fear You

Fear You audiobook cover art

What happens when she’s had enough?

Lake Monroe has given in to her childhood tormentor too many times. She knows it, he knows it, and even their enemies know it. When he returned after being found guilty of a crime he didn’t commit – a crime he thought she set him up for, he returned darker than ever, demanding her body and her submission. To survive him, she knew she had to give in to fear once more or suffer the deadly consequences….

But Lake experienced what it was like to submit to the dark and demanding boy who invaded her dreams. Now she’ll experience what it’s like to fight him.

What happens when he wants more?

Keiran Masters has a past that is both shocking and dark. Once enslaved, he now has demons he can’t escape – demons that have followed him for 10 years, demons he blames his beautiful obsession for. He promised to make her pay. He promised to make her break….

But when Keiran conquered her body and tasted her submission, he found a new addiction instead – one he has no intentions of giving up.

As secrets unfold,

Identities are revealed,

Danger closes in,

And they both discover what it really means to fear….

I have to put a big ass trigger warning because there is a lot of triggering things in this book. I may not get all of them but I will try my best so here we go manipulation, obsession, possession, rape, death threats, psychological warfare. I don’t know there was a lot to this book and I found it weirdly intriguing. This is a dark romance novel.

The more I read from this series the more I need to know what is happen. I will say that this book has two different story lines that both go hand in hand. You have the story that is meant to be kind of wrapped up by the end of the book which I feel is like the romance of the book. As I am writing in review I am on book so five so you will understand what I mean by this when I review the other three books. Once I finished the first I jumped straight into this book. Book two picks up right where the first one left off. If you have not read my review on fear me you should so before reading this review.

When it comes to me feels on this book I am conflicted. This book is not better than the first one. In fact there were many times I had to speed the audiobook to get through the frustrating parts of the book. Trust me there were many times that I was frustrated while listening to this book.

We are back with Lake and Keiran. Lake, Lake, Lake I like really wanted to slap her through most of this book. Girl could not make up her mind if she wanted to send Keiran to jail or not. I want to say that there were areas of this book that Keiran were softer than the previous. I liked this because it showed the most growth from one character who was hard to root for in the beginning. This at least to me seems like maybe this is setting up the character to be redeemed later on in the series.

The story is well written and it is very entertaining. B.B Reid does write a compelling story that keeps you hanging on every word and you want to find out what happens to the characters. There are taboo topics in this so please beware if you are going to read this book. Dark romance is not for everyone.

Ava Erickson and Teddy Hamilton really work well here as a duo. Ava is one of my favorite female voice actress. She has a great tone and a great speed when listen. You can speed up the audio or slow it does not sound not sound bad at all. I tend to speed up the audiobooks that I listen to. Teddy Hamilton is a pleasure to listen to. Teddy and Ava seem to work together a lot. Teddy his speed is great.

The sound is great. There were no weird sound or pauses. There were no skip in the audio. Very professional.

Thank you all for joining me here in out little part of wonderland. Please don’t forget the to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Audiobook Review – Fear Me

Fear Me audiobook cover art

This isn’t another “I hate you because I secretly love you” story. Boy really does hate girl. And this isn’t just a forbidden love story. This is obsession at its darkest.

I don’t believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming.

I believe in fear.

He taught me how to be afraid.

We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn’t be the last. For 10 years, he’s been my tormentor and I’ve been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.

Now, he’s back, and wants more than just my tears. You see…he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge…and he knows just how to get it.

This book is a complicated one for me. There are many aspects of this book that does not sit well with me. It’s a dark romance. Typically when it comes to dark romances I do read the reviews 1st because I want a better understanding of why this book has really high ratings or why a book has low ratings. This audio book had some very high rating. It seems like the general consensus seems to really enjoy the book.

I want to give you a little look and to the process of my brain while taking notes for this audiobook review.

  • LAKE TRYING TO SAVE THE PEOPLE SHE LOVES

  • LAKE HAS BEEN THREATEN FOR 10 YEARS

  • LAKE TELLS KNOW ONE

  • LAKE TRIES TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST KIERAN

  • THIS IS A BAD IDEA

  • SHE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED ALONG UNTIL SHE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET AWAY

  • KIERAN BULLY, PSYCHO, POSSESSIVE, CRUEL, MANIPULATIVE

  • LAKE AND KIERAN ARE IN HIGHSCHOOL

  • THE MC SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 10 YEARS OLDER

  • THOUGH THAT WOULD NOT REALLY MAKE THE STORY BETTER

  • THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE

  • LAKE HAS STOCKHOLM SYNDROME

  • KIERAN FLIP FLOPS THERE ARE MOMENTS WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE HE CARES ABOUT BUT THEN IN ANOTHER BREATH THREATENS TO KILL HER OR THE ONES THAT SHE LOVES

  • LAKE KEPT DOING THINGS TO PISS OFF KIERAN

  • WHEN LAKE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAR HER NAME SHE SAID NOTHING UNTIL FORCED TO

  • NOW THAT WE ARE IN THE LAST FOUR HOURS OF THIS BOOK IT SEEMS LIKE A DIFFERENT STORY

  • DOES THIS MEAN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

  • THEY ARE SIMI ACTING LIKE A NORMAL TEENAGE COUPLE

  • THEN THEY DON’T ACT LIKE A NORMAL COUPLE

  • SHE KIND OF STARTS GETTING THE ANSWERS SHE WANTS

  • SHE REALLY DOES ASK ALL THE WRONG QUESTION

  • THEN SHIT HAPPENS AND THEY ACT LIKE A “NORMAL” COUPLE

  • MORE SHIT HAPPENS AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL

So as you can see above that is my whole thought process while I was listening to this book. The events that happen in this book are very unrealistic. I’m not even gonna go into the plot of this book again I had to take a very clinical approach to listening to this book. The author weaves a tale two high school kids. One wanted to see the other ones suffer. The main male character has a very messed up past. Which does lead to his actions of a threatening lake all the time. Now I’m not saying that what he’s gone through as an excuse for him to treat lake the way that he does. I’m just stating I can understand why he is the way that he is. Also there is child pornography in this book so if that triggers you please do not read this book.

Once again started reading comments on this book because when I first started listening to it it wasn’t at all what I thought it was. This is the type of book that needs trigger warnings. There is none so I am definitely going to have to deduct points from this because there is no trigger warning and there needs to be. So overall I’m gonna give the book about a two stars because of the content of the book it kind of was confusing but it intrigued me enough to where I did listen to the second book and I will listen to the third box because I have invested 22 hours into this book series that I might as well just goOnto reading the other three books. I really want to see where all of this ends.

Basically the gist of the story is lake moved to six Forks when she was eight years old she was on the playground trying to help this boy but the mail main character Kiernan decided that he hated this girl because of something that happened in his past. We basically torments her for 10 years and then he basically it’s on the way Juvenile detention on a drug charge he gets out he thinks lake is the one who set him up but the reality of the situation is lake did not set him up and so he is on a mission to take her virginity and basically break her.

He doesn’t really end up breaking her in all reality he ends up falling for her more so than he wants to. He wants to be this person who doesn’t give a shit about other people but sadly that’s not the case.

I have finished the second book for my review on that will be up in a couple of days. I want to say the redeeming quality of this whole novel was Eva Erickson. She is a fantastic narrator I love everything that she’s ever read. So I will continue to listen because I have a goal to listen to everything that she is narrated it so yeah

Thank you all for joining me here in our little part of wonderland. Please do not forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Until Next time

Hello, wonderlandians. I hope all is well with all of you. How is your year going so far. Mine is great. I have gotten some books listened to. I have figured out that I’m going to have get really craft when it come to how I read this year. Since I am really in my last year of school. I know I just started. This program that I’m in is only about a year and half long. Between working two jobs and schools audiobooks are going to be my saving grace. So I have listened to this audiobooks in the wee hours of the morning. I wake up at five so I have an hour and half of listening time. I listen on my way to and from work. Then I listen on my lunch brake. I do have some e-books that I have to get through so I read those at night as a way to unwind. Any way lets get on with this series review.

The Mount Trilogy ——–> Get the book audiobooks HERE.

Ruthless King audiobook cover art

New Orleans belongs to me. You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see – and all the things you don’t. My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met. I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt. To have her in my debt. She doesn’t know she caught my attention. She should’ve been more careful. I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her. It’s time to collect what I’m owed. Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.

Defiant Queen audiobook cover art

I’m his entertainment. His toy. Payment on a debt.

I tell myself I hate him, but every time he walks into the room, my body betrays me. How can I want him and fear him in the same moment?

They told me he’d mess with my head. Make it go to war with my body.

But I didn’t realize it would be complete anarchy.

I should’ve known better. When Mount’s involved, there are no rules.

I will not surrender. I will not show weakness. I’ll stand my ground and make it out of this bargain with my heart and soul intact.

But he has other plans….

Sinful Empire audiobook cover art

The Mount Trilogy concludes with Sinful Empire!

What’s mine, I keep, and that includes Keira Kilgore.

It’s no longer enough to have her in my debt. No longer enough to own her body.

I want something more.

She can try to resist, but I’ll never give her up.

Nothing will keep us apart.

Not her. Not my enemies. No one.

Her debt will only be paid one way – with her heart.

Sinful Empire is the third and final book in the Mount Trilogy.

Review

I really don’t where to start with this series. I have so many thoughts running through my head. So this review might be a little scatter and for that I’m sorry but that is just how I’m feeling right now about this series. Let me start off with the writing of the books. I found that Meghan has a great flow when she writes her books. You get sucked in right away. You fall in love with characters. Which was the case with The Mount Series.

Keira Kilgore and Lachlan Mount are amazing together. To me this book good and solid surface story. What I mean by surface story is that we have to wait until the end of the second/third book to get any real character development or any deep movement to the story line. Truly I don’t mind it. I just feel like something was missing or I was waiting for something big to happen but hey it kept me entertained for 15 hours.

Grace Grant and Joe Arden are magic together. These are two of my favorite narrators. Anything Grace Grant reads I am here for. Same goes for Joe Arden.

All in All I give this book a 3 out 5.

What I’m Reading Wednesday

Welcome back wonderlandians! We have make it to Wednesday. half way through the week. I hope it is going good for you. Mine is going ok. Eating to many sweeties. I have had to put my body on a reset. No junk food.  I have to keep reminding myself of that! This how ever doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a sweet and juicy book.

This week I am reading The Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken. Now I am listening to the audiobook. It is read by Jeremy York. I am really liking how he is reading the book. I am not to far into the book so far. Maybe two hours in.

27383715.jpg

Synopsis

Wingman rule number one: don’t fall for a client.

After a career-ending accident, former NFL recruit Ian Hunter is back on campus—and he’s ready to get his new game on. As one of the masterminds behind Wingmen, Inc., a successful and secretive word-of-mouth dating service, he’s putting his extensive skills with women to work for the lovelorn. But when Blake Olson requests the services of Wingmen, Inc., Ian may have landed his most hopeless client yet.

From her frumpy athletic gear to her unfortunate choice of footwear, Blake is going to need a miracle if she wants to land her crush. At least with a professional matchmaker by her side she has a fighting chance. Ian knows that his advice and a makeover can turn Blake into another successful match. But as Blake begins the transformation from hot mess to smokin’ hot, Ian realizes he’s in danger of breaking his cardinal rule.…

Doesn’t that sound good!

I am really enjoying it. I am still reading The Hot One. Almost done with that.

The reason I have picked up this book currently is because it is getting turned into a movie with PassionFlix. They make a lot of adult romance books either into TV shows or movies. So when I heard that they were picking this up. I had to get my hands on it.
