Top Three Thursday – Fears I Have About Writing

Hello, my wonderlandians. Today I wanted to try something different with my Top Three Thursday. I am over here writing but I have all of the doubts in the world about it. I know that every writer has doubts when they are starting a new project or revisiting a project.

What if I work so hard on this book and it does not sell or everyone hates it? As I have said this book is going to cover some really deep and personal things for me. Another worry of mine. What if people don’t understand? I know the topic of mental illness can be a bit taboo because of the stigma surrounding it. I live with OCD and there are millions of other people.

What if people think I am freak? This has generally been a worry of mine since I was a teenager. As I have gotten older I have been able to push it the back of my head. Though the further I get into writing this novel it is fighting its way back to the front.

Image result for not good enough gif

This one is a hard one for me. Dealing with the topic that I am I always feel like I am not good enough. I worry that I am not good enough to write a story on OCD even though I have it. What makes me good enough to write about it? Then i have to remind myself that I am good enough.

So I am just going to power through. I can’t let the fear run me.

Thank you all for joining me here in out little part of wonderland. Please don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out .

Top Three Thursday – Character’s I’d Like to Be Best Friends With

Hello, wonderlandians. Welcome back. Yesterday I was off my blog due to illness. Sorry I was not replying to your comments. You guys are so incredible with all the interaction and all of your loveliness! Thank you.

Today’s topic I really love. It made me think of all of the books I have read. So I have my three well four fictional best friends. I got this prompt from over at The Broke and The Bookish. This was difficult for me to choose. I have so many books that I love.

3 Lia Nautilus – Mer Chronicles

Image result for Lia Nautilus Mer Chronicles

Anyone who says they don’t want to be best friends with someone who is related to the Little Mermaid is just straight up lying! First of all you get to me a mermaid. I am already Queen of the Sea so I could just order her to be my best friend.

2 Kat Bishop – Heist Society

Kat Bishop - Heist Society by kt-grace

Art by kt-grace on devian-art

A band of kids who just go all over the world and steal things back for people. Sign me up. Kat is like my little sister/best friend. You read her story and fall in love. I have been waiting for years to have movie and more books come out. Ally Carter I am looking at you for more books. Please?

1 Rose and Lissa – Vampire Academy

She is so bad-ass. Rose will do anything for Lissa. Her goal is to protect her. Even if that means from herself. They two GIFs that are up above are of the two lovely ladies that play Rose.

Zoey Dutch who plays Rose in the movie which ended up bombing in theaters. No matter how hard the fans tried to get another it going again it did not work.

Take the lady on the right that is Jenn Studnicki. She plays Rose in the web series that was created by a fan for the fans. Her name is Ashleigh. It is such an awesome web series. It is now in its second season. They are currently on the book Frostbite.

Now we move to Lissa! You can’t break up this pair.

Lissa’s in the book series goes through a lot of character development. So does Rose but Lissa deals with mental illness and so do I. I relate to that on a deep level.

We have Lucy Fry she played her in the movie. She is one of my favorite actress.

Then we have Ashley Lynn Blair. She has help direct, write, and produce the show.

You just have to love their friend ship.

Watch both season here

Vampire Academy Officially Unofficial Fan Series.

Bound by Shadows – Frostbite Fan Series.

Thank you all for joining me here in our little part of wonderland. Don’t forget to give the unicorns a treat. You will get to fly high in the sky with them.

Top Three Thursday – Books I Had Strong Emotions Over

Hello, wonderlandians. How is your day going? I just want to start off and say I am sorry for the lack of posts this week. I have been a little off. I am working on getting back on track and I will have some awesome stuff this month. Today, I am going to be talking about the three I have had strong emotions over.

Billy has long dreamt of owning not one, but two, dogs. So when he’s finally able to save up enough money for two pups to call his own—Old Dan and Little Ann—he’s ecstatic. It doesn’t matter that times are tough; together they’ll roam the hills of the Ozarks.

Soon Billy and his hounds become the finest hunting team in the valley. Stories of their great achievements spread throughout the region, and the combination of Old Dan’s brawn, Little Ann’s brains, and Billy’s sheer will seems unbeatable. But tragedy awaits these determined hunters—now friends—and Billy learns that hope can grow out of despair, and that the seeds of the future can come from the scars of the past.

My Thoughts

I remember reading this book back when I was in 8th grade so it has been 11 years since i have rad this book. I loved this book. I listened to audiobook when I was school. The way that Billy has to save and work for the dogs that he has wanted for a long time really teaches kids a good lesson. You have to work for what you want in life. Plus having those dogs really helped him learn some responsibility. Defiantly would recommend to all kids.

After severely injuring Peter Driscal in an empty parking lot, mischief-maker Cole Matthews is in major trouble. But instead of jail time, Cole is given another option: attend Circle Justice, an alternative program that sends juvenile offenders to a remote Alaskan Island to focus on changing their ways. Desperate to avoid prison, Cole fakes humility and agrees to go.

While there, Cole is mauled by a mysterious white bear and left for dead. Thoughts of his abusive parents, helpless Peter, and his own anger cause him to examine his actions and seek redemption—from the spirit bear that attacked him, from his victims, and from himself.

My thoughts

I really don’t remember this book being as dark as the synopsis says it to be. I do remember the boy getting mauled by the bear. If I am not mistaken there is a little bit of the Greek mythology Sisyphus. He was the guy punished to roll the boulder a hill for he rest of his life only to roll back down once he got it to the top. I don’t know why this stood out to me. I was in the 8th grade when we read this book. I remember having a strong feeling towards this book.

Number 1.

In a future where the Population Police enforce the law limiting a family to only two children, Luke, an illegal third child, has lived all his twelve years in isolation and fear on his family’s farm in this start to the Shadow Children series from Margaret Peterson Haddix.

Luke has never been to school. He’s never had a birthday party, or gone to a friend’s house for an overnight. In fact, Luke has never had a friend.

Luke is one of the shadow children, a third child forbidden by the Population Police. He’s lived his entire life in hiding, and now, with a new housing development replacing the woods next to his family’s farm, he is no longer even allowed to go outside.

Then, one day Luke sees a girl’s face in the window of a house where he knows two other children already live. Finally, he’s met a shadow child like himself. Jen is willing to risk everything to come out of the shadows — does Luke dare to become involved in her dangerous plan? Can he afford not to?

My thoughts

This book took me into the world. I was the girl next store. I was the mother trying to keep my boy safe. I was in every part of this book. It consumed me. That is the best way I can described it.

What are some book that you have had strong emotions for? Have you read any of these? If so, which one was your favorite?

Thank you for joining me here in our little part of wonderland. Please don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Top Three Thursday – Bookish Resolutions/Goals

Hello, wonderlandians. How is your Thursday going? Let me show how mine is going….

Image result for sleepy gif

Image result for sleepy gif

If you read yesterdays post I had mentioned that yesterday I went to the doctors and was told that I had mono. Mono makes you very sleepy. So while I was at work I was trying very hard not fall asleep at my desk. Let me tell you how hard that actually was. HARD! I am so tried it burns to keep my eyes open.

So this post is going to be my Top Three Bookish Resolutions/Goals. I did a tag it was called The New Year’s Resolutions Book Tag. I wanted to talk about three goals that I want to achieve this year in detail and I feel like this is the post to do it in. This prompt is from The Artsy Reader Girl. She has taken over Top Ten Tuesday for The Broke and The Bookish. I have just modified to fit Top Three Thursday.

Here we go.

I am writing a book (well I am writing two). I am writing a book. I can’t say that enough. I am writing a book. I have started and never finished any of my previous projects before. This one though this is the one. This is the most personal book I have ever written and it scares the living shit out of me. This project me is super personal that’s why it scares the crap out of me. it’s like I’m starting a brand new chapter in my life. Got it chapter because I’m reading a book. My goal is to get this book the first draft done by July. I’m calling it project Emerald for now. That’s not the title that’s not the name. So when I refer to project Emerald on this Blog then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

My goal is to write one blog posts a day on this blog. I always want to be uploading content here. I have a booktube channel and for me, it became so overwhelming that I just gave up on it. The one thing I don’t want to give up on this year is this blog. So even if the blog posts are late like this one’s going to be. For whatever reason, my blog says that after 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time where I live that it just starts the next day. not true so as of right now it is 8:53pm. So I’m  still within my limit of time. over the last month-and-a-half, this Blog has become such a big part of my life just as much as reading has become. I feel like it’s making me a better reader because I’m able to take the time that I need to with my book reviews and think of everything. When it came to my booktube channel which I really want to get back to you at some point I felt very overwhelmed because I had to you know have good lighting. There’s just a lot of variables when it comes to booktube but when it comes to my blog I feel like I have a more free space if that makes any sense. I like the community that I’m building and the community that I’m a part of in the blogging world. That’s all thanks to you guys. The ones who are following commenting and liking my blog. so thank you.

This goal has to do with Instagram. I own two photography companies one with my mom and one that I own by myself. I really want to do something with those. I want to research more when it comes to Instagram and photography. I know this isn’t a bookish Go but I really want to build that up. I’ve really missed doing photography and if there’s any way that I can incorporate books into that photography I think it would be really cool. So I do have an Instagram for my books. I don’t post on there a lot. I want to post more on there too so every book review that I do will be on my Instagram on my blog. But I really want to get better with my photography this year so I’ve been watching a lot of flat lays that look really cool. That you can do with books. So I guess long story short I want to work on all three of my Instagram’s to really make them.

Thank you all for joining me here in our little part of Wonderland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out. I hear that they are giving free rides to anybody who gives them a treat.

Until next time

Much love

Top Three Thursday – Childhood Favorites

Hello, my wonderlandians. How is your week going?

Mine is going really well. Today I am so excited for today’s post. Once again I am taking a prompt from The Broke and The Bookish. We are going to take about our favorite childhood books. Tell me what some are your favorites books were as a child.

Here we go.

Number 3.

Where the Sidewalk Ends turns forty! Celebrate with this anniversary edition that features an eye-catching commemorative red sticker. This classic poetry collection, which is both outrageously funny and profound, has been the most beloved of Shel Silverstein’s poetry books for generations.

Where the sidewalk ends, Shel Silverstein’s world begins. There you’ll meet a boy who turns into a TV set and a girl who eats a whale. The Unicorn and the Bloath live there, and so does Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout who will not take the garbage out. It is a place where you wash your shadow and plant diamond gardens, a place where shoes fly, sisters are auctioned off, and crocodiles go to the dentist.

Shel Silverstein’s masterful collection of poems and drawings is one of Parent & Child magazine’s 100 Greatest Books for Kids. School Library Journal said, “Silverstein has an excellent sense of rhythm and rhyme and a good ear for alliteration and assonance that make these poems a pleasure to read aloud.”

Shel Silverstein’s incomparable career as a children’s book author and illustrator began with Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back. In 1964, Shel’s creativity continued to flourish as four more books were published in the same year—Don’t Bump the Glump!, A Giraffe and a Half, Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros?, and the beloved classic The Giving Tree. Later he continued to build his remarkable body of work with Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Every Thing On It, The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and Runny Babbit.

This book was life for me when I was a little kid. I first heard about this book back when I was in the second grade. My teacher would read it to us for story time. Yes, we still did story time when I was 7 years old. I remember going into my school library and there were three kids always fighting over this book. I was always the victor. Look I did not become mistress of the underworld with out being a little sneaky.

Number 2.

Blubber is a thick layer of fat that lies under the skin and over the muscles of whales . . . When Linda innocently reads out her class project, everyone finds it funny. Linda can’t help it if she’s fat, but what starts as a joke leads to a sustained and cruel ritual of humiliation. Jill knows she should defend Linda, but at first she’s too scared. When she eventually stands up to the bullies, she becomes their next victim – and what’s worse, Linda is now on their side . . . Judy Blume has written some of the best books of our time about real-life issues – family stress and pressures, what happens when your parents divorce, the problems of growing up and sexual awakening, bereavement – with insight, sensitivity and honesty. The response of readers all around the world continues to make her one of the best-loved writers ever published.

This book is rather special to me. When I was a kid you could not get me to read for my life. I had a really hard time reading. I was below my reading level for the longest time. My grandmother gave me the book because she thought I would really like it. Well she was right. I could not put the book. Why it make it so special is because the book belonged to my grandmother.

Number 1.

An extraordinarily different story by Robert Munsch is a gentle affirmation of the love a parent feels for their child–forever. Sheila McGraw’s soft and colorful pastels perfectly complement the sentiment of the book–one that will be read repeatedly for years.

If you guys have not read this book go do! My great grandma, my grandma, and my mom loved this book. So I. I want to cry just thinking about. I would beg my mom to read this to me every night before bed. My mom would start crying before the end of the book. I never understood why. I would ask her and she said that they were happy tears. I would just laugh at her. Now I get it every time I read the book I start to ball my eyes out.

sookie-stackhouse (1)

Seriously, me now. This book is so beautiful.

We have come to the end of the blog post today. So thank you for joining me here in our wonderland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Top Three Thursday – Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to In 2018

Hello, wonderlandians! Today is Thursday. It is one more day until we reach Friday. Then it’s the weekend then we got two days and it’s the new year.

One thing I know about the new year is that there are a whole bunch of books that are coming out. My TBR list is about to grow by about another hundred books. This is a very true story. We all have those certain books that we are looking forward to that are coming out in the New Year. For me, there are three that I am so excited to get my hands on within the new year. One of them does not have a release date yet. At least I think it’s coming out next year. The author hasn’t even finished writing it yet. So I’m putting the cart before the horse and I’m saying that it’s coming out next year I think it might be coming out late next year. Sorry I’m rambling I tend to do that but I’m still excited about this post.

I just want to take a quick moment to say thank you for everybody who has been liking, commenting, and following this blog. This blog is almost 4 weeks old. Wow! I cannot believe it. I am so looking forward to all of the things that will be coming within the new year.

tenor (1).gif

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog. Top three books I am most looking forward to reading within the new year.

3. Busted

Marisa wasn’t planning to be a snoop for hire—until she accidentally caught her best friend’s boyfriend making out with another girl. Now her reputation for sniffing out cheaters has spread all over school, and Marisa finds herself the reluctant queen of busting two-timing boys.

But when ex-frenemy Kendall asks her to spy on her boyfriend, TJ, Marisa quickly discovers the girl TJ might be falling for is Marisa herself. And worse yet? The feelings are quickly becoming mutual. Now, she’s stuck spying on a “mystery girl” and the spoken-for guy who just might be the love of her life…

Amazon – Busted

2. Sea Witch

Everyone knows what happens in the end.
A mermaid, a prince, a true love’s kiss.
But before that young siren’s tale, there were three friends.
One feared, one royal, and one already dead.

Ever since her best friend, Anna, drowned, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. A freak. A curse. A witch.

A girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears offshore and, though the girl denies it, Evie is convinced that her best friend actually survived. That her own magic wasn’t so powerless after all. And, as the two girls catch the eyes—and hearts—of two charming princes, Evie believes that she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.

But her new friend has secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad, or on two legs unless Evie finds a way to help her. Now Evie will do anything to save her friend’s humanity, along with her prince’s heart—harnessing the power of her magic, her ocean, and her love until she discovers, too late, the truth of her bargain.

The rise of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic villainess is a heart-wrenching story of friendship, betrayal, and a girl pushed beyond her limits—to become a monster.

(my mission in the new year is to read more mermaid related books.)

Amazon – Sea Witch

There is really no news about this book. It is the third and final book in Tobie Easton’s  Mer Chronicles Series. I know I keep bringing up this book but this is my most anticipated read of next year!

Top Three Thursday – Books I Hope Santa Brings

Hello, Wonderlandians. It’s Thursday. One more day till the weekend. What are your plans for this holiday weekend?

Now for this topic today I thought it would be fun. Now I have not asked for any books this year. I usually ask for gift cards. This way I know what books I am getting. Also, I save these for books that I know are coming for the next year.

Once again I got this idea from The Broke and The Bookish. Thank you.

3. Ugly Love

Funny enough I have read this book about 4 times over the last four years. While I have listened to. I love the audiobook. One of the narrators is Grace Grant. She is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Sadly, for whatever reason, I do not own this audiobook.

My reaction when reading this book.

Top Three Thursday – Favorite Books of 2017

Hello my wonderlandians. This post is a little bit late today. I know. This is the section of the blog I think I am going to have the hardest time with. I can never pick what I want to do for the this day. This topic however seemed fitting. Now, there is a blog call The Broke and The Bookish who has a list of over 300 topics. So I think I will be picking from there frequently. Thank you The Broke and The Bookish. You have saved me today!oypGTjA

I thought it would be hard to pick my top three favorite books of this year but it really wasn’t. So without further ado my top three favorite book of 2017!

I loved this book! It was was the perfect kind of retelling with a modern twist.

Cinderella goes to the con in this fandom-fueled twist on the classic fairy tale.
Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

I want another book. Seriously, it was good. Although I feel like they could make another book. Please? I am being.  Don’t make me sick my vampire on you. I am the mistress of the underworld.

Number 2 – Geek Girl 2

“My name is Harriet Manners, and I am still a geek.”

Harriet knows that modelling won’t transform you. She knows that being as uniquely odd as a polar bear isn’t necessarily a bad thing (even in a rainforest). And that the average person eats a ton of food a year, though her pregnant stepmother is doing her best to beat this.

What Harriet doesn’t know is where she’s going to fit in once the new baby arrives.

With summer plans ruined, modelling in Japan seems the perfect chance to get as far away from home as possible. But nothing can prepare Harriet for the craziness of Tokyo, her competitive model flatmates and her errant grandmother’s ‘chaperoning’. Or seeing gorgeous Nick everywhere she goes.

Because, this time, Harriet knows what a broken heart feels like.

Can geek girl find her place on the other side of the world or is Harriet lost for good?

I can’t wait to read the next one.

Book 1 – Emerge and Submerge

Ok so I know that this two book but you can’t one without the other.

Synopsis – Emerge

Lia Nautilus may be a Mermaid but she’s never lived in the ocean. Ever since the infamous Little Mermaid unleashed a curse that stripped Mer of their immortality, war has ravaged the Seven Seas. Now Lia lives in a secret community of land-dwelling Mer hidden among Malibu’s seaside mansions and attends high school with humans. To protect everyone around her, she must limit her contact with non-Mer. No exceptions. But when the new girl sets her sights on Lia’s crush, she will risk exposing her deadly secret to stop Clay from falling in love with the wrong girl.

Synopsis – Submerge

Now that Lia and Clay’s love has broken the Little Mermaid’s curse, everything has changed. Will Lia’s family remain on land, leading the only life she and her sisters have ever known, or will they move below the waves, to the sparkling new capital city? Lia is adamant about staying on land with Clay for her senior year. But at Melusine and her father’s trial, new revelations threaten what Lia holds most dear.

The verdict will shake Lia’s whole world, calling into question her future with Clay, her feelings for Caspian, and the fate of all Merkind. As she wonders who to trust, Lia sets out on a treacherous path that will lead her away from her sheltered Malibu home to a remote and mysterious school for Mermaids—Mermaids who may hold the secret to ancient magic Lia can use to either get back all she’s lost or to embark on a thrilling and dangerous journey.
