Excerpt Reveal – Crazy Sexy Love

Hello, wonderlandians. Today I have a great excerpt reveal for an awesome book.

Crazy Sexy Love, an all-new Standalone Romantic Comedy by Alison G. Bailey is releasing July 19th!

Doug and Sophie from the International Bestselling book, The Dance get to tell their own crazy, sexy, love story.

Sophie is an intelligent independent woman. After her parents’ divorce when she was a child, Sophie tossed the idea of “happily ever after” out the window. No personal attachments or commitments is the way she lives her life. After her best friend, Bryson reunited with her soulmate Hart, Sophie is forced to allow his friends into her world. Luckily, she is fond of her new circle of friends, except when it comes to one handsome, six foot, green eyed buffoon who won’t take no for an answer . . . Doug Truman.

Doug is everything women want in a man. He is a self-described hottie, very witty, and quite the charmer. He can’t imagine any woman not wanting his attention. And they do. The problem is, Doug has a very short attention span, except when it comes to one woman . . . Sophie Cipriano. At first all he wanted was one night, thinking it would be enough to shake his obsession. If only his best friend, Hart, hadn’t deemed Sophie off limits. Now Doug can’t get her off his mind or out of his system.

When they met, they were enemies. When their best friends got married, they were acquaintances. When they became roommates, they got to be friends. And when they were friends, neither realized what was happening until it was too late.

EXCERPT

Three years ago, my best friend, Bryson, reunited with her soul mate, Hart Mitchell. Theirs was the type of love that inspired epic romance novels. Hart was perfect except for one thing— a six foot two inch, dark sandy-blond-haired, golden hazel eyed pain in the ass named Doug Truman. Because of Hart’s lapse in judgment in the bud/ dude/ bro department, I was forced to allow Doug into my hemisphere.

We met right before one of Hart’s basketball tournaments. I wasn’t thrilled with Bryson dragging me to the game. For one, I didn’t like sports and for another, I was pissed that she’d kept her feelings for Hart a secret from me. As I stood pouting, a tall, lean and cut body with flailing arms headed toward Bryson and me. With each step, it became very apparent that he was a little crazy and could pose a real threat. So a split second before he lunged toward Bryson, I grabbed him by the wrist, twisted his arm behind his back, and demanded he drop to his knees. Two seconds later Bryson explained that Doug was one of Hart’s best friends. And that he wasn’t lunging but coming in for a hug.

Once I helped Doug up and he came into focus, tingles spread throughout my body. His entire being exuded a relaxed sexiness with his messy hair and five o’clock shadow. And his bright green eyes and crooked grin screamed mischievous devil. Even though he was so not my type, I had a sense of relief realizing that maybe the day wouldn’t be a complete loss. A little flirting with Doug would occupy my time while Bryson stared at every move Hart made. But suddenly something happened that doused the tingles and skyrocketed my annoyance level into the stratosphere… Doug spoke and… Never. Shut. Up.

Doug was that guy who had convinced himself that he had game, when in reality, the game had been rained out, indefinitely. So the past three years has consisted of one feeble attempt after another to sleep with me. Even though he was constantly testing the boundaries of acceptable social behavior, I found it freakishly flattering. Doug was nothing if not tenacious in his pursuit. There was no question he was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But each time Doug opened his mouth, he turned into an emotionally stunted, maturity lacking, uber-horny Neanderthal.

I’d been successful at resisting his lame attempts at wooing me up until tonight.

Whoever I was dancing with was sexy as hell, and the way he moved against me, his hand keeping me flush to his body was turning me on like nothing else. A memory flashed in my head of the last time I was turned on this much, and I knew if I hadn’t been completely drunk I would have realized who this was much sooner. There was only one person who made me feel like this.

“What are you doing here Dorian?” I spun around in his arms, running my hands over his hard torso, feeling his muscles flexing with every move of his hips.

His brown eyes met mine, and that smirk of his appeared. I wanted to kiss that smirk right off his face.

“I was having a chat with a friend of mine, and spotted you dancing like a teenager in her bedroom. So, I thought I’d get a better look.” He was provoking me, as usual.

I leaned in close, rubbing my breasts against his chest, moving down his body then back up. He was completely in control of himself when my eyes met with his gaze. I thought I would have at least gotten a hiss out of him or some reaction. Oh well.

“What are you doing, Esme?” His calm voice had a bit more bite in it.

I swayed, enjoying myself whether he was dancing with me or not.

“I’m on Operation Get Esme Laid,” I sang out in my drunk-ass voice.

That brought a reaction out of him. His eyes darkened, and his fingers gripped my waist a bit harder. I wished I knew what he was thinking, so of course drunk me asked. His head leaned in, his breath tickling my ear since my long hair had been braided to the side so my back could be seen.

“I’m thinking about fucking you and getting my curiosity out of my system.” His words were low, and I felt the vibrations shiver down my skin, making me shudder.

I turned back around, pulling out of his grasp, my finger waggling at him.

“Too bad you wouldn’t stoop low enough to fuck me in the on-call room, huh, Dorian? I would have rocked your world, but instead you couldn’t pull that stick out of your ass, and you lost this bomb-ass pussy,” I said, stalking away, feeling like a goddess for setting him straight.

“Come out, come out wherever you are,” he murmured, scanning the street ahead.

A neon sign for Lavazza espresso glowed in the window of a café at the next corner. The ambient light sent a dull yellow swath across the sidewalk, the illumination fading as it reached the street.

The sign flickered and then went out as two women emerged from the café door. Dominic waited, listening to their muffled goodbyes and quick double-cheeked kiss as one left in a cab and the other started toward him.

She was oblivious to him as he watched. Clouds rolled in earlier obscuring the moon, but as if God himself commanded, they parted as she stepped off the curb and his breath caught in his throat.

“Beauty,” he murmured.

A riot of auburn curls framed a heart-shaped face, and soft hair kissed creamy shoulders. It fell in waves over bare skin highlighted by an off-the-shoulder spring sweater, and when she glanced toward the sky he saw her eyes were amber.

Carlos said it. He had a weakness for pretty redheads and this one was gorgeous with just enough curves to make his mouth water and his fangs tingle.

You’re horny. Either that or you haven’t fed in a while…

Dominic smirked to himself at Carlos’s words.

Knowing you, it’s probably both.

Dominic watched the woman turn the corner into a darkened street. Rome was safe. At least that’s what the travel brochures liked to claim. Average humans had no idea what prowled the ancient streets in the small hours of the night. It wasn’t just muggers looking for a quick hit.

He followed, keeping his distance. No matter how tempted, he had other business to attend, but he could play Good Samaritan for now.

Her footsteps echoed in the silence, the tap tap of her boots bouncing off buildings on either side. He hung back, but her senses were sharp and she glanced over her shoulder as if she knew someone followed.

She picked up her pace, heading for the florescent lights under the façade canopy of a typical three-star side street hotel. Two blocks. That’s all she had to walk before he got back to the task at hand. Once inside, the pretty woman was no longer his concern.

“Belinda…” a voice called from the shadows. “The mistress waits for you and so do I.”

Startled, she stopped short on the sidewalk and looked across her shoulder. “Is someone there?”

The voice laughed and she took a step toward the darkened alley to peer into the gloom. “Who’s there? Show yourself!”

“Come see…”

As if mesmerized, she took another step, but before she could move into the darkness, Dominic knocked her back to the sidewalk.

She fell with an expletive, pivoting on her heel to break her fall with both palms. “Ow! Shit!”

“Didn’t your mother tell you not to play in the dark?” His mouth was a harsh line, but at the stunned look on her face, he softened.

“No.” She slapped his hand away and got up on her own, dusting herself off. “She told me not to talk to strangers, especially pushy shovey ones!”

“I’m sorry, but you were about to step into that alley and someone was there, waiting. Someone you wouldn’t want to tangle with. There are dangers in the shadows.”

“Wait, you heard the whispers?”

Dominic nodded.

Belinda raked a sore palm through her hair, but was too freaked out to wince. “So I’m not crazy. I thought I was hearing things.” She hesitated, sparing a glance for the dark alley before looking back to Dominic. “But he knew my name.”

He nodded again. “I heard. Belinda. It’s beautiful name for a beautiful girl that almost got into a situation she might not have been able to get herself out of.”

“I’ve never been the dumb girl before, but I guess there’s a first time for everything,” she mumbled, giving him a sheepish glance. “I’m actually pretty smart.”

He bent to pick up her purse and handed it to her. “Then do me a favor smart girl,” he said with a smile. “Go back to your hotel and lock the door behind you. Pull the shades and don’t answer the door for anyone, at least not until morning.”

“Wait,” she said as he took a step toward the alley. “Where are you going? I don’t even know your name.”

He looked at her and shrugged, fighting every urge to take her a kiss her then and there. Another place, in another time. Maybe.

“It’s better that way, beautiful.” Dominic took off after the voice knowing exactly who it belonged to.

About Marianne Morea

Who am I? Well, that’s a good question. When most people think of romance suspense authors, the image of Kathleen Turner as Joan Wilder in ‘Romancing the Stone’ usually comes to mind. A lonely woman sitting in a bathrobe and fuzzy slippers, conjuring lovers and adventure in her imagination. In other words, one step away from being the neighborhood cat lady.

If that description made you cringe, then you know how we writer’s feel. Thankfully, for most of us that image is far from accurate.

I have been married for 23 years, have three beautiful kids, two dogs and a cat. I am a 2nd degree black belt in traditional Japanese karate and as I’ve said, I love to travel and my romantic and spontaneous husband shares that passion with me, so my stories get plenty of inspiration!

In the meantime I am also a founding member and previous President of The Paranormal Romance Guild, a not-for-profit organization for readers and authors of the genre. Of course, I’m still writing and when I’m not ‘bichok’ (butt in a chair hands on keyboard), I’m off with my hubby and our kids to exciting destinations.

Cat lady? I don’t think so.
