When Mexican-American author Aidèe Jaimes isn’t chasing after her energetic daughter and spending time with her happily ever after husband in their Florida home, she’s living other lives through her characters. As her writing evolved into darker, sexier, no holds-barred stories, she transitioned from the pen name Haden Hudson, to the author she is today!

TwitterFacebookGoodreadsAmazonInstagram

Aidee Jaimes tells a story that some people think about. In the description it tells of a husband that cheats on his wife and she finds out. Now she has her ticket or hall pass as I like to call it (based off the movie.) Aidee writing keeps you engaged throughout the whole story. The story is hot and heartbreaking at points.

Felicia Palmer is great. I don’t think there could have been someone else who could have brought this story alive. There is a little child in the story. When there is a child I find that most narrators usually miss the childlike voice but Felicia hits it on the head. Which keeps you engaged the whole time. There are southerns accents that she pulls off great. They sound authentic.

I can’t wait to read the second book.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Aidèe Jaimes. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Q&A with Author Aidèe Jaimes
  • Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.
    • The process itself is quite simple for the author, because the producer or narrator, does most of the work. I simply approve. The hardest thing for me was finding the perfect narrator. I auditioned several until I came across Felicia Palmer. She blew me away with her audition and I knew she was the one!
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • I auditioned. There were some very good narrators, but they were missing something I couldn’t even name. The story is extremely emotional, and I needed to hear that. When Felicia took on Cris, I felt every bit of her angst.
  • How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process?
    • With Felicia, she took on the role of Cristiana and made it so much her own, along with all the other characters, I didn’t have to guide her. The only time I assisted was during the pronunciation of Cris’s first name, Maria. Other than that, she was amazing.
  • Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
    • All of my writing has some sort of real life inspiration behind it. Although you may never know which part I actually played in it. I may have been the heroine or the villain. In some cases both. This is no different. Writing is my outlet, and I pour everything I am into it.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook than in the book format?
    • The main thing about this story is that it’s extremely emotional. Something my readers mention a lot is that they can feel her angst through the words. Felicia’s audio performance intensifies that tenfold, and I really believe even people who’ve read the Affair series, will find this to feel greater.
  • Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
    • I’ve never had characters appear in my dreams. Nope. They haunt my every waking hour though!
  • What’s your favorite?
    • My favorite food is: Pizza
    • Song: I have too many!
    • Book: Too many too, but I will say Sherillyn Kenyon’s Fantasy Lover is one I hug to my chest when I get my hands on it.
    • Television Show: Chopped
    • Movie: The Scarlet Pimpernel (I love the book too!)
    • Band: Metallica
    • Sports Team: Don’t watch
    • City: New Orleans!!!!!
  • Are there any of those things referenced in your work?
    • I often reference those things in my books because every single character, good guy, bad guy, and their mothers are all me, therefore they like what I do! The most influential of my likes however, is New Orleans. You will see that all the time in my books. It’s where my heart goes, the place that makes me sigh, and where I ache to see again.
  • Are you an audiobook listener?
    • I actually just recently started listening, and I really love it! But I still also love the smell of a book!
  • What’s next for you?
    • Next for me is a long list! I have several books in the works for the year and into the next, as well as other audio books currently in production. One of these includes the spinoff of The Ticket and Red Dress, called The Promise. Also being produced by Felicia Palmer!

Book Review – Indigo Dusk

When Kairi Freemont happens upon a winged man on her parents’ Tennessee Ranch, she’s given what she’s wanted ever since the day she was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome: An escape from the pain of her chronic, invisible illness.

Through the power of the Aetherial Sun, Aro shows her there’s not only a place where her pain disappears but that she can live in a fairytale world of Unicorns, Fae, and magic she’s always wished was real. But when Kairi discovers that meeting Aro was no accident, that she may have lived a whole past life at Aro’s side before being stolen away by the monstrous Draconians, things start to spin out of control.

Are the Draconians, a race of banished dragon riders who have long since lost their precious reptilian steeds, as monstrous as the rest of Aetheria believes? And what lies at the heart of Aro’s motivation behind sweeping Kairi off her feet? Is it simply flirtation and his desire to give her a better life, or is the truth far more malicious than she could have ever expected?

REVIEW

Kristy weaves a tale of magic. This is a beautiful story of the acceptance of oneself as well as the rediscovery of oneself. Not only is this story magical its is a bit educational as well. The main character draws with a condition called EDS which stands for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It is great to see a character dealing with issues that are not well known. It brings them to the light to help desigmtis hidden syndromes. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean someone is not going through it.

I really don’t want to go to much into the book because I believe with all of her books you should just read them and been taken along for the ride. This is one ride that you will not want to miss.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Gabriel’s Inferno Part One – Book to Movie Adaptation Review

Hello, wonderlandians. I’m so excited for this post. You have seen me talk about this company in the past. Today we are talking about Passionflix.

If you don’t know what they are in a nutshell Passionflix is a company that turns romance books into video adaptations. I have reviewed one or two other adaptations that they have done.

I have done a review on Driven. Driven was a very awesome adaptation.

I’m very excited to write this post.

If you would like to watch my review from Nov. of 2012 to see what baby Ashten thought of the book then I would go give it a watch.

This video does contain spoilers!

This is going to be a long post so please bare with me. This is one of my favorite books and I knew that I was going to be critical of this movie because I am such a huge fan of the books.

Okay so I just finished watching the the first part to Gabriel’s Inferno. I have been waiting 8 years to see any kind of adaptation of this book. I was so happy when Passionflix optioned to turn all three books into a movie. One thing that I love about Passionflix is that they are dedicated to bringing you a true adaptation.

The movie was pure magic. I love how much detail that was put into every shot. In an interview with Tosca Musk with dcfilmgirl. Tosca said that she wanted the actors to give her everything they had. It didn’t matter how much time that it took. She could always take away time but not add more.

I love this. It really goes to show how much time and energy that was put into this project.

The cast was fantastic. The chemistry you could cute it with a knife.

Lets talk the main players. There are five in total for part one.

Giulio Berruti plays Gabriel Emerson. He is an Italian actor and was the fan favorite to take on playing Gabriel. In many interview that I have seen you can tell that he takes his job seriously. When it came to the prep work for the character he really put in the work and showed up with detailed notes. There really could not have been a better person to take on this role. His chemistry with Melanie Zanetti who plays Julia Mitchell. These two are fire on screen. When you are watching these two act you are swept up into the movie. It’s like you are actually there.

James Andrew Fraser plays Paul Norris or Angel f*cker as he known by Gabriel. Paul is Julia’s first and really only friend in Canada. When they first announced the cast I was interested to see how he would bring the character life. I was not disappointed.

Margaux Brooke plays Christa Peterson or Gallium as known by Julia. Christa is the bitch of the movie. I was interested to see who would get this part. While I don’t like the character much. I thought Margaux did a wonderful. I love actually watching the characters I love to hate on screen. While in the books I could have done without her. In the movie I loved watching her. There is a scene in the movie between Christa and Julia that I was nervous about because it is one of my favorite scenes in the book and she was perfect in that scene.

Julia Barrett-Mitchell plays Rachel Clarke. I love this character in the books and again was going to be critical with whoever played Rachel. Other that Giulio and Melanie she was my favorite character. She was fantastic. Rachel is great in the books but Julia really brought something out in her that you don’t find in the books and you know that makes her one talented person.

This movie was wonderful to watch and I can see myself watching this over and over again. There was only one part of the whole movie I took issue with. When you get the half and hour mark in the movie there is a where I felt the music choice really didn’t fit the moment. The music was lyrical instead instrumental. Having lyrical music when the actors are talking to each while not a bad thing I just feel that it didn’t fit the scene right.

Other than that the movie was beautifully shot. I can’t wait for part two to come out which should come out this summer. This movie does end on a cliffhanger.

Audiobook Review – Instinct The Elite, Book 1

Instinct audiobook cover art

I’m not like the vampires in your books, little girl. I’m not agonizing over my own soul or the ethics of drinking your blood. I don’t want saving or to find some great love that will alter my very existence. I’m not a monster. I’m the devil himself, and I have no problem playing that role. I take what I want, and right now, what I want is you. And there’s nothing you can do to stop me.

The Elite is a PNR series of novelettes.

Book Review

Hanleigh Bradley tells a story of a girl who lives in London and loves vampires but what happens when her books become her reality? Hanleigh Bradley really knows how to spin a tale even in the shortest of time. I can say much about the books because it is so short. I will say this though you will be on a ride. One that you will not want to get off.

Debbie Soelter has the type of voice that keeps you listening. She was reading for both the male and female lead. I thought that she did a great job when it came to the female lead and an ok job when it can to reading for the male lead. She had to put on a British accent. This added depth to the story and this is the party that keeps you listening.

The sound quality was great and professional. There were no sounds gaps or awkward pauses.

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Mine to Five was such a fun an fast read for me. Tara September writes such interesting characters that keep you wanting more. That is one thing that keeps me going back to an author. Verla Bond is a new to me voice actress. Verla has such smooth voice and keeps you engaged the entire time. She has a nice range of voice s for the different characters. I was able to tell who was speaking. This is one thing that I look for when it comes to a narrator. Being able to tell who is speaking important so that was you know who the character.

I would recommend this to everyone and anyone. When it comes to the audiobook I will pretty much always choose the audiobook this one is no exception.

This is a short book so I don’t want to go into detail because I don’t want to give anything away. The production was very professional.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Tara September. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

  1. Waffle fries or curly fries? – Neither. I like crispy steak frites … or McDonald’s fries, I know, but they are sooo good.
  2. GIF with a hard g or soft g? – Hard, like my men, lol.
  3. Fantasy or science-fiction? Hmm both, but if pressed I’d say Sci-Fi. Love me some Star Wars.
  4. Superman or Batman? – Superman! He’s super, it’s in his name after all. This is actually a debate the hero and heroine have in my holiday office romance, Mine to Five.
  5. Text message or call? – TXT! I have a phobia about having to sort out issues over the phone with strangers. Contest a bill or having to call customer service? Ugh the worst. So if I can just send a strongly worded email instead, even better! Even my besties have accepted that I’m not the friend that will chat on the phone for hours. Rather do that in-person or on my blog.
  6. Pancakes or waffles? – Waffles. It comes with built-in grooves to hold my syrup, whip cream and other toppings.
  7. Doctor Who or the Walking Dead? I haven’t seen either *ducks for cover*
  8. TV Shows or movies? Movies. I saw every film on the AFI 100 list before I graduated high school. My favorite actress is Katharine Hepburn.
  9. Facebook or Twitter? Twitter for fun, Facebook for business.
  10. Alice in Wonderland or Robinson Crusoe? Meh to both. But since Robinson Crusoe is technically considered the first novel ever, much is owed to Defoe for paving the way for today’s literature. <Tara tips imaginary hat and puts on imaginary opera gloves>
  11. Being too warm or too cold? I live in Florida for a reason.
  12. Netflix or Hulu? Netflix. I’m OG like that. I used to have their DVD rental service, lol.
  13. Work Hard or Play Hard? Play on player!
  14. Passenger or Driver? Driver, because in our family that means I have control of the radio and can play an audiobook or Yacht Rock Radio. Plus, I can never sleep in the car anyway, so I might as well drive.
  15. Amusement Park or Day at the Beach? In Florida we can do both 😉 I’m a huge Disney addict. Used to work for Disney corporate out in LA.
  16. Honesty or Other’s Feelings? Other’s feelings!
  17. Movie at Home or Movie at the Theater? Theater. About two-thirds of the way back, in the center of the row. If not, I’ll wait in the lobby eating nachos and sour patch kids until the next showing. My husband meanwhile will likely have given up and will see something else solo. Oh, and I LOVE previews. If we arrive after the previews, I’ll wait for the next showing, lol.

Free Friday – Baby Mine (Roommate Duet Series Book 1)

Baby Mine (Roommate Duet Series Book 1) by [Fox, Kennedy]

I saw her first.
Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten.

But it didn’t matter because she chose him and he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed.

To her singing in the shower every morning, dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall and claim her mouth.

She’s constantly on me for making messes, bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good; however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.

But then the unthinkable happens…
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life…

**BABY MINE is an angsty, emotional, slow-burn unrequited romance wrapped up in a heartbreakingly delicious love story. It’s book 1 in the Hunter & Lennon duet of the Roommate Duet Series and must be read first. Recommended for ages 18+ only.**

Free Friday – Lessons from a One-Night Stand (The Baileys Book 1)

If you’re a guy like me, and you find yourself having banged your sexy new boss—the school principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience…

Lesson One: Always get her FULL name.

Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living.

Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.

Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing.

Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office.

Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again.

Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.

Class dismissed.
