Book Review – Arrow’s Hell

Hello, wonderlandians. Today I have a book review for you.

Let’s talk about the cover.

Arrow's Hell (Wind Dragons MC, #2)

I really enjoy this cover I really like that you can see the tattoo and all of its glory. They talk about the tattoo a lot in the book when they’re describing Arrows body. Now I’m a tattoo person myself I’ve got four and I’m about to get my fifth one in a couple of months so that should take care of my half sleeve. I really like how the cover really does focus on his tattoo and it’s all shaded in Black. It really makes the yellow of the title pop.

Now what I have to say about the actual book itself is while I did really enjoy the book. The narrators were amazing fantastic two of my favourite narrators of all times. a Sebastian York is just incredible and is my second favourite narrator of all time. Sadly he only read about one chapter out of the entire book. The girl did an amazing job. This book did jump 5 years in the future. Well, I don’t mind books kind of jumping to the Future it works but it doesn’t work. The events that have changed they’re oh so much is because of his girlfriend who died in the previous book Mary. It’s still haunted him 5 years later and while I can understand the fact that it does hunt Arrow I feel like there should have been more growth in 5 years. Now, this could just make me cold hearted but I feel like she was too much in this book. Now we have our new girl Anna who is a lot like Faye in a way she’s badass and doesn’t take s*** from anybody. She really had to fight her way into arrows heart which I feel like Faye had two in the last book.

That’s one thing that I think that the author got right about this book is making sure that our main girl was not too far away from the girl in the previous book. Yes their personalities are a lot different but there are enough similarities to where you don’t necessarily feel like you’re reading the same character because you’re not and that’s not what I’m saying you feel like you’re in the same universe and the author didn’t just throw you for a loop and make the girl a complete opposite from the first girl. I feel like a lot of authors when they go into writing books in the same universe and each book is told about a different character each character is so unlike the first one you’re kind of thrown for a loop or at least I know that’s how I feel. Because once we get to the third book in the series which I will have a review on your a lot more comfortable in the world so even if the character is completely different from the first two it’s a nice break. So Anna did have a lot of attributes of Faye that I really did like shouldn’t take crap from anybody and knew new how to be Scrappy. There was one thing that I really did like about Anna she ends up being rakes sister so it was really cute when Anna was kind of jealous of Faye because she felt Rake and Faye were closer than Rake and herself.

Now I don’t want to give too much away or too many spoilers because if y’all haven’t read Dragon’s Lair which is the first book in the series then you will be spoiled. yes it all ends very nicely. I would have to say that this is my 4th favorite out of the four books that I’ve read so far. definite read on Goodreads I gave it a 4 out of 5. The narrator’s were fantastic the writing was incredible. I just felt that Arrow beat himself too much over what happened with Mary because it wasn’t his fault. It took him way too long to come to that decision that it wasn’t his fault. But Anna and arrow are one of my favorite couples out of the whole series.

Thank you all for joining me in our little part of wonerland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way.

Until next time

Book Review – Under Locke

Hello, my Wonderlandians! I must say before we get into this review it is going to be a long one so get some popcorn ready and some drinks and let’s get going. Also, there will be a new format for this book review. Sorry that I’m doing a lot of different formats to my book reviews lately. But y’all seem to be enjoying the ones that I’ve been doing so I hope you guys enjoy this one too. I am updating this post as I’m reading but since it’s a very big audiobook I think I will have to do this in days. Thus making it a really long review. sorry.

You know the drill let’s talk about this cover first.

(This is the audiobook edition cover.)

I actually really enjoy this cover it’s something different period normally when an author is writing about a motorcycle club you see a hot guy with no shirt on he is typically got some kind of tattoo going on. There is a motorcycle somewhere in the picture not always but sometimes. I really enjoy the fact that the cover is a picture of a motorcycle wheel And then you got the pipes coming into. My inner photographer is just loving this shot. It is very well lit you can see the shininess on the Chrome. I love it. It’s different and I think that’s what made me Gravitate towards this book. Also, I’m on an MC kick so you know I’m trying to read all the empty books that I can. There is also another cover for the paper back edition. I will not be comparing that one as this is going to be a very long review.

Day 1

This audiobook is 16 hours and at the time I am currently about 2 hours and 45 minutes in. the book is called under lock it is a motorcycle club story. If you guys can’t tell I’m kind of on an MC cook right now. This book is about a girl named Iris. She recently moved from Florida to Texas to live with her half-brother Sonny. She is having money problems so he hooks her up with a job at a tattoo parlour and she’s before manager for the tattoo parlour. I started when I was at work and I thought it would be a good way to pass the time. I will say that it took me about I’m on chapter 8 right now took me eight chapters to kind of get into the book. Sometimes I have found that the best books I have read it took me a little bit to get into. There was a book series called The Elemental Preservers Series by Alycia Linwood. It took me up 5 chapters to be able to get into that serious. One of the best series I’ve ever read hands down in my life.

We meet her boss Dex and right off the bat he’s really hot biker guys heavily-tattooed but he’s also a complete and utter douchebag in her mind. I swear to you that the first 8 chapters are about her in her mind talking about how she is a pushover she normally doesn’t let things get to her. she can let things go really quickly. There was an incident that happened but I’m not going to ruin it for you guys. I just found her to be really off-putting because to be completely honest she’s just whining a lot. The other half of the time that you’re listening or reading the book she’s talking about how hot Dex’s is or how much of a douchebag he is. Now I must say the series is starting to pick up and work kind of getting away or at least I hope we’re getting away from he’s so hot but he’s a douchebag I really want to hit him. I really can’t say much at this point because I am Old Man chapter 8 and 2 hours and 45 minutes into the audiobook. I have a feeling this is going to be a very long review.

Day 2

I am now about 4 to five hours into this book. I swear Iris just hates Dex because he is hot. Dex is the type of character that gives zero shits (well to most people) if he upsets you. Iris at this stage is pretty much a wet blanket. I get it though. She is scarred of being fired from her job. Dex was a bit of an ass when they first met. He called her a bitch but he was sorry. Honestly, I can’t stay mad at Dex. He is my favorite character so far in this book.

Day 3 and 4

On these two days, nothing really happened in this book. It was really more of the same old stuff complaining about how much of a dick Dex’s is. Then she’s completely fawning over him in her head saying how hot he is. Sadly this part of the book wasn’t really plot-driven. I mean there was literally nothing going on in the book.

Day 5

When I was listening to this book on day 5, in the beginning, it was a lot of the same nothing was really going on. Then when you enter the last half of the book like we’re talking the last 10 chapters that’s when things start to happen in the book. Our two main characters finally get together. There is some action going on.

Day 6

It took me 6 days to finish this back. as I was going to finish this book things started to happen. The overall Arc point of this book did not happen until the 3rd to last chapter of this book. Which really drove me insane because at this point I honestly feel like nothing was really resolved. I really want to keep this a spoiler-free review in case anybody out there wants to actually read or listen to this book. overall my thoughts on this book are our main character Iris is really a whiny teenager. she is gone through so much stuff in her life but as soon as she gets around this badass biker dude she turns into A person who overall makes horrible decisions for her life. She’s constantly saying throughout the entire book that moving to Texas has turned her into a liar and somebody that she’s not. I understand wanting to do things for family members even if they’re stupid oh. She was just an overall over sensitive Girl.

Now don’t get me wrong there were a lot of cute Parts within this book. the cute things that have happened in this book and the very sexy scenes in this book. Which were steamy let me tell you were not enough for me to overlook everything else that this book had to offer. The epilogue in end of it didn’t really make sense it jumped a lot of years it was trying to wrap up nicely. It didn’t do it for me this book was a standalone so there are no more books in the series and if there were I would not be continuing with it. Overall I gave this book two stars and what was the Saving Grace of this book was I really like the narrator. I thought she did an amazing job I’ve never heard her read before. It sounded like she had a Southern accent when she was trying to do a northern accent her southern accent kind of slipped through which I thought was really cute. What really kept me going through this book was just the sheer curiosity of if it would pick up it didn’t and I was curious to see how it ended. The book didn’t satisfy me in the end.  do I feel like I wasted my time? The answer to that would be no. It was kind of an enjoyable read it didn’t really leave me wanting more So with this book I could have just taken It Or left it.

So this book overall gets meh for me.

Book Review – Monster Prick

Hello, wonderlandians. I have a book review for you today. Well, a mini review. I hope you enjoy this mini review. Plus it is Friday! I hope you all are having a great Friday. What are you guys doing this weekend? Leave me a comment down below telling me what you guys are doing over the weekend. I have work on Saturday but I’m off on Sunday so I don’t know what I’m doing. But I’m sure I can think of something.

Let’s talk cover.

I really like this cover. It’s simple but at the same time giving me the vibes of The Billionaire’s Betrayal. There is like a blueish filter over it. I really like it is subtle but it stands out. The model on the cover…OMG, his body is hot, hot, and HOT (I feel like I am using him as a piece of man meat. #sorrynotsorry). I am really liking covers like I guess for right now.

Over my dead body.

That’s what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.

If anyone is touching her, it’s going to be me.

I shouldn’t even be considering it, but I can’t get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.

Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.

Those are the words I’d use to describe my older brother’s dangerously handsome best friend.

When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.

He says if anyone’s going to do, it’s going to be him.

I hate that I’m even considering his offer.

But I am … I sooo am.

Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he’s driving in to me.

But if we cross that line … will I ever be able to go back?

MONSTER PRICK is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

This was a really good short book. It was just what I needed. I did not know though that is was a novella is a series. I definitely felt that I was missing something towards the end of this book. Finds out that I was there is a whole other book that takes place before they sound really introduces the characters. I picked this look up because it was a 2 and 1/2 Hour audiobook. I really just wanted something quick and easy that I could get through in a day. I am definitely checking out the first book in this series. I’m not going to give any spoilers away this is going to be a really short review.

Things that attracted me to this book

  1. Kendall Ryan wrote it
  2. It was a short book
  3. I found it to be really cute
  4. The characters were fun
  5. There’s no drama

Things that frustrated me about this book

  1. Nothing it was perfect.

The narrator I am noticing reads most of Kendall Ryan’s book. I really like her. She is fun to listen to.

Thank you all for joining me in our little part of Wonderland. Please don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Until next time

Book Review Dragon’s Lair

Hello, wonderlandians! It is Saturday. How is yours going? this Saturday I am going to be working.

So this is going to be a little different and I’m going to be reacting to the book as I’m reading it. So I hope you guys enjoy this new style of a book review goes or if you like my old way better. now I’m currently about 45 minutes into Dragon’s Lair by Chantal Fernando. One of the biggest things that I’m in noticing is the way the lingo is in this book. Chantel is using words like nappy, holiday, uni, petrol. These are not the kind of words that are used in America. I am currently listening to the audiobook and the person who is narrating the book is an American. So I was very confused when the author started writing words like this. In America, we say words like diaper, vacation, University or College, and gas. so I went to Google to look up where the author was from and it finds out that Chantal Fernando is from Western Australia. I have not read a lot of books by Australian authors. I believe there’s only one other Australian author that I’ve read and that would be Kelly Carrero and I’ve done a book review on her series severed wings.

I think the fact that she is from Australia makes me even more excited to finish this book. I believe I mainly read American authors and that’s not because I’m biased or anything I just genuinely don’t speak out authors if a book looks good to me I’ll pick it up. I’m genuinely happy that this author just happened to be from Australia because it’s widening my reading.

Cover Time

Let’s talk about the cover. I really don’t have much to say about it. It is one i have seen before. I like the tattoo poking out the leather jacket. This cover is appealing but it does not blow me away. What is on the inside of the book does.

The Book

This book does not even take place in America so it is a little off-putting narrator is American. I don’t mean off-putting in a bad way I just mean that because the narrator is American my head is thinking that they’re in America but they’re not. I think the better word would be to use as off-kilter maybe I’m not quite sure but it’s just so confusing but I’m loving it all the same.I don’t know where in Australia they are but one of the Cities mentioned so far is Melbourne which is not the city that they’re in so they have to be close to Melbourne. I’m really enjoying this book so far.

The voice actress who reads for this her name is Eva Christensen. This is the first book that I’ve heard from her and so far I’m really liking her tone of voice. She does read a little slow for my liking so uh normal audiobook starts at 1.40 speed I have mine at 1.75 times the speed. I just like my authors to read a little bit faster. That’s just what I’m accustomed to as of right now. I did use to listen to books at 1.40x  the speed. I believe I was watching Read By Zoe one of her reading challenges and she was listening to an audiobook that was double the speed. so it was really interesting when I found a narrator where I found that she read a little bit too slow so I sped up the narration for the book. I believe I went to 1.60 times the speed. Which at the time I felt was really fast I really wasn’t accustomed to hearing that. Now I can’t listen to a book unless it’s at least 1.60 times the speed. Her range of voices is really good so far. I know that there are more people to come as I get further along in the book. So far she’s had a really nice voice for all of the different characters. Our main guy Dex I love the voice she does for him it’s deep it’s gritty and I’m just really enjoying her.

Let’s talk about the two main characters

Faye Conner – Strong, Independent, and Does not take anyone’s crap. She is the kind of female character that I really.

Dexter Black (Sin) – Alpha male. That pretty much describes him. Dex is one of my favorite male characters. Sure he is ridged around the edges but when it comes to Faye he will fight for her till the end.  No body messes with his girl.

The two of the together is just magic.

This is where it only starts for me. I like the fact that there is a history with them already. It really added to the story and I think if it were not there you would not have understood the characters as well as we get to know them in the is book.

The MC part of this book is different than others I have read. I can’t put it in to words. I know MC’s are all about the brotherhood. You get a good sense of that in this book. There were times in this book that I felt moved way to fast. It was jumping months in to the future but I was not a forced feeling.

Thank you all for joining me here in our small part of wonderland. Don’t forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.
