Book Review – Driven

Hello, wonderlandians. I have a book review for you today. This is the one that I had for my What I’m Reading Wednesday. Well I finished it and I am shook. I will get into that soon.

Also, I should say that I am once again trying out a new format for this review.

Let as always talk about the cover or…well…covers.

Now in my post I did talk about the covers. I understand the need for different colors but when the covers are a variation of the original then I really don’t understand the point. Now there is one cover that if a little bit different. The model on the cover has a re thing flag wrapped around her. I personally really like this cover the most. If I were to see this one in a bookstore her that would be the one I would gravity thoughts. I think the are a really simple design for the cover and for this type of book I think that the more simple to book cover the better.
Synopsis
Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man
that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?
Review

So I got this book off Passionflix. They are turning this book into their next movie. Well they are in the middle of several projects but this is the one they are currently advertising. If you guys remember I have talked about Passionflix in one of my other reviews The Match Maker’s Playbook. So I will be getting into my first reaction of the people who are going to be playing the main characters.

I’m floored with this book. I love it so much. It has quickly become one of my favorite books. At first I thought this was a fanfiction that was being published because I got a lot of vibes from Fifty Shades of Grey (one of my favorite series). Please take note though this book is nothing like the contents of that book in terms of content. There is no BDSM. I would say that the only thing that is like Fifty Shades of Grey there is so much self loathing that Colton has for him self. As he says he has a 747 truck full of baggage. Plus he is always warning Rylee away from him. I think these similarities stem from the book coming out in 2013 while Fifty Shades come out in 2011. These are where the similarities end.

Rylee is not without her own baggage.

Rylee is woman with a trouble past. She is working at a house with kids who are in the system and have no one to take care of them. Her boys are her world. One night when she was putting on a event to raise for the company she works for she me Colton the bad boy race car driver and they fire they have between them is hot. They really hit it off Rylee is going to get some paddles for an auction they are holding and gets locked in a closet. Now Rylee is claustrophobic. So being in that closet is a big thing for her. She is yelling for someone to come and help her when none other that Colton is the one to save her. This is their first meeting. Everything that happens from there is much like a trip around the race track high speed and intense of emotions.

I want to talk you about three of the characters that are really important to the story.

Rylee Thomas – She is a great character and goes through so much growth throughout this whole book. She gives all of herself to everyone. The people in particular are the boys that she looks after. She has a deep connection with each one of them while taking on a mother role. All she wants is for Colton to open up to her.

Colton Donovan – Is sexy and he knows it. He can have who he wants when he wants. As describe in the book he has a very mercurial personality and I have to agree. He is runs so hot and cold with Rylee but she is really the only one that can break through the fake person he puts on for the rest of the world.

Zander – Then we have out common denominator. Zander is one of the kids that Rylee looks after. He is 8 years old and does not speak. I don’t want to ruin his backstory for you. When he first sees Colton he has the first reaction to another person in I want to say 4 months. Throughout the book this little guy is able to help Colton bring down his walls and let Rylee see just a little bit of whole he is.

When it comes to this book you will be crying, yelling, laughing, and wanting to throw the book across the room. 5 out of 5 for me.
Narrator

Tatiana Sokolova is such a fantasic narrator. Her voice is very easy to listen to. This is the second book I have listened to her narrate and she is quickly becoming one of my favorites. She keeps you engaged and on the edge of your seat while listening to the book. She has number of different voices for all of the different characters in this book. If you have never listened to a book she has narrated I would really recommend her.

Movie

I am so excited to see this movie. You guys have know ideas. This book would not even be on my radar if it were not for Passionflix. Now I have read one other book that they had turned into a movie. It was called The Match Maker’s Playbook. Which was the book. I’m not kidding you. They have a good reputation of sticking very close to the books. This is what other people have said as I have only read one of the books they have turned into a movie.

I can’t wait to see what they keep for this movie. There is so material to work with. I’m so invested in these characters. Another thing that I really like is how dedicated they are to keeping their fans update with BTS pictures.

Let meet the people who are going to bring to life these amazing characters.

The lovely lady that gets to play Rylee Thomas is Olivia Applegate. She is a new actress to me. She has done a few things main stream things. One of the things she is know for is her singing ability. She was on America’s got talent. So I am very excited to see how she does in this role. I have seen one thing she acted in. It was a short film on YouTube called The Breakup. I really liked and think she can act.

This is Casey Deidrick he is going to be playing Colton Donovan. I’m very familiar with his acting. He is most notably known for playing Chad DiMera on the longest running soap opera Days of Our Lives. This is a show that I have grown up on. It’s 50 years old. My mom was just a kid when the show first aired. So I am so very excited to see him take on this role. He is such a great actor.

This is Christian Ganiere. He is going to be playing Zander. He is currently playing Parker on Days of Our Lives. I’m so excited to see him bring Zander to life. Zander is one of my favorite characters.

So as you guys can tell they are far in the filming. They are going to be announcing some more cast members tomorrow and I am so very excited it. As I have said I have fallen in love with this book and I cannot wait to see how they are going to be turning this into a movie.

I hope you guys have liked this very long review.

Do you guys want me to keep you updated on the progress of the movie? Let me know.

As always thank you guys for joining me here and I little part of wonderland. Please do not forget to feed the unicorns on your way out.

Until next time

Much love

  1. I wasn’t a fan of this series. It was good enough (I read the series so I liked it that much) but I didn’t love it, but I know I am the exception to the rule. I am waiting for Passionflix to release a couple for movies before I subscribe because in the UK we only have access to the original content and they are making a series (This Man) and a movie (The Protector) by one of my favourite authors. (Jodi Ellen Malpas) I really enjoyed your review.

  3. Wow, it’s being made into a movie? And I agree with you on the covers, can’t fathom why they included the exact same elements in all 3 versions. I like the movie part of your review!
