Book Review – The Ghost of Glendale

Hello, wonderlandians. Good evening, everybody, I hope you guys are doing well. I hope today was a great day for you guys. I had said I was at the doctor’s office and my knee Is in a lot of pain. That’s okay though. I have a book review for you guys over The Ghost of Glendale.

This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review. As always I’m going to keep this extremely real with you guys on my thoughts and feelings of this book. And just because it was sent to me doesn’t mean that my opinions are hindered and on the way. And I hope you guys feel that way too.

As always we first start off talking about this cover.

The Ghost of Glendale by [Kleinman, Natalie]

At twenty-four years old, Phoebe Marcham is resigned to spinsterhood, unwilling to settle for anything less than the deep love her parents had shared. That is, until adventurer Duncan Armstrong rides into her home wood, larger than life and with laughter in his eyes and more charm in his little finger than anyone she’s ever met before. Far from ridiculing her family ghost, Duncan resolves to help solve the mystery which has left Simon Marcham a spirit in torment for two hundred years.

Cover Talk

Let’s talk about this covered. Honestly, I think she has movie poster written all over it and I’m living for it. The cover design is so well thought out and put together. I can tell you what time this book is Sutton and you can already tell it is going to be in the UK so. It’s just a great. I wholeheartedly approve.

This book is a refreshing reintroduction to the world of historical Romance with a dash of paranormal. Yes, you did hear me right a  refreshing reintroduction. I have not read this genre of book in 6 years. It takes a lot for me to really fall in love with a historical romance novel. Well, I love learning about the real-life history of England the part of it doesn’t usually do it for me. This one so you add a paranormal aspect to it and I am so here for it. The way this author writes I kid you not she paints a beautiful picture in your head. The other day I was watching Austenland which was a 2 episode mini-series that premiered on the BBC. I love watching Pride and Prejudice and Emma. Those are two of my favorite shows to watch when I’m feeling in the mood for a Jane Austen fixed. No, I’ve never actually read Any of her books but give me a movie adaptation and I will watch it. I still have to read a Jane Austen novel.

This is beside the point I was watching Austin Land which is a mini-series based off of the book and I loved it. It put me back in the mood I remembered that I had this book to read and when I jump into it it was incredible. I will say it first it was a little difficult for me to understand the way they were talking because it is a dialect from that time period. So this is one thing I honestly feel that the author gets so right in this book. The author really does transport you to this time period as you are reading her book. The characters are so beautifully written and the way that the story is told there is a Puzzle that two of the characters need to figure out. There is a bunch of stuff jam-packed into this teeny-tiny novel. The information that we’re getting is not overwhelming by any means. The Author was able to deliver a story in 113 pages. A lot of the time when an author attempt to fit a whole story in that amount of space I honestly feel like they miss certain things or they Rush scenes. I honestly don’t feel that way with this book.

Because of the fact that this is a little book I don’t want to say too much about the plot because again spoilers and I really don’t want to give them to you. So I don’t talk about our main character Phoebe. Baby is a woman far beyond her time. She is such a badass I love it. She doesn’t need a man she has resigned herself to the fact that she’s never going to get married. Can we please just put emphasis on the fact that she’s 24 years old. Why back then at 24 people thought they were old? Yeah I know I know that they didn’t really live that long back then I believe like the max age was like 35. I got it is just so weird to see such a difference in how you look today this is how they were back then. I’m almost 27 years old and I do feel like I’m old. But I’m just at the beginning of my adult life. But at the same time, I feel like I’m running out of life. I swear I’m not even 50 and I’m having an existential crisis. I love love love love this book. It was such a great break from the books I’ve been reading lately. And now I want to go read every Philippa Gregory book I can get my hands on. This book has put me in that zone to go read all of the historical fiction whether it has a paranormal element or not.

I honestly have to say that this is a standalone novel it wrapped up really nicely. I am completely satisfied with how this book ended. Typically when it comes to short novels I find myself very unsatisfied with how the book I bought this one wrapped up in one nice neat little bow. So I cannot recommend this book enough go pick it up.

Cover Reveal – Don’t Cheat Me

Hello, wonderlandians. Today I have a cover reveal for you from the lovely people over at Xpresso Tours.

Don’t Cheat Me
Jackie May
(Nora Jacobs #2)
Publication date: May 21st 2018
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy

One month after Nora’s violent induction to the dangerous supernatural side of Detroit, she’s finally settling into her new life as the underworld’s token human. All she wants to do is mind her own business, enjoy her new friends, and stay safe. But that’s easier said than done when she’s such an enigma to everyone around her.

Thanks to her unique psychic abilities, she’s garnered a reputation for being mysterious and powerful. When the alpha of a local werewolf pack asks her to help him figure out who is stealing from him, she can’t say no, even though getting involved in pack business could have deadly repercussions.

While tangled up in a heap of werewolf troubles, Nora can’t quite shake her old vampire problem, either. Henry is practically stalking her, Parker is breaking down the walls around her heart, and Nora’s blatant fear of the blood-sucking monsters is a delicious temptation for the natural predators.

Nora’s succubus friend, Cecile, believes throwing her a “coming out” party into underworld society is the best way to solve all of her problems, but Nora disagrees. If the vampires and werewolves don’t kill her, Cecile’s party planning definitely will.

This is book 2 in the Nora Jacobs series and should be read after book 1. It is a slow burn reverse harem series.
